Join us this Friday, 7-9pm, for a truly transformative experience.

Do you feel like there’s trauma stored in your mother line that you’ve never been able to release? Or maybe you feel like you race around too much all the time and don’t have the space to honour your ancestors properly?

Once a year, during the sacred Yogi/Vedic fortnight of the ancestors (Pitru Paksha)—we are given a rare opening to honour those who came before us, heal our lineages, and receive the blessings of our ancestors. This powerful 16-day lunar window between full moon and new moon is considered one of the most potent and auspicious occasions to make offerings, prayers, and gestures of reverence to our ancestors.

In the rush of modern life, we rarely make time to tend to our roots. But this is the kind of tending that can support meaningful and transformative shifts in ourselves, our families, and our lineages - including the repatterining of long-standing trauma. This ancestral water healing ritual allows us to lay down what we’ve carried, honour what came before, and receive the guidance that helps us walk forward with more clarity, courage and grace.

Together, we will chant ancestral mantras, make elemental offerings, and create both a personal ancestral altar and a collective community mandala—an embodied prayer of remembrance and gratitude. The water healing ritual at the heart of this evening will support the release of ancestral blockages and the flow of blessings through our lines.

What you’ll experience:

- A safe and sacred space to call in and honour your lineage
- Both personal and collective altar-building
- Guided water healing ritual for release and renewal
- Mantras, offerings, and connection to ancestral wisdom
- A deeper connection to your roots, inner wisdom, and spiritual support

All are welcome—no previous experience with ancestral ritual is needed.

Pre-ritual instructions will be sent in advance to help prepare for our shared ceremonial space.

Join us this Friday, we look forward to sharing this sacred ritual with you.

FREAKY FRIDAY!!

Sometimes I scare myself when I wake up, stretch, shuffle through to the living room, and catch my reflection in the window!

This is how I look when I sleep, with my mouth taped shut. It’s not glamorous but I’ve been doing it off and on for years, and I can truly attest to its benefit. It is not a fad or a misleading piece of marketing to state that you sleep better when you breathe through your nose. But how can you guarantee that you breathe through your nose when you’re asleep?!? Mouth tape, that’s the only sure fire solution!

Nose breathing cleanses the air entering your lungs, it moistens the air entering your lungs, and it’s calming to your body. You can consciously attempt to nose breathe throughout the day, but if you’re interested in nose breathing at night too, this really helps.

What gets forgotten in discussions around this subject is that the body gets better at things it does more regularly; therefore, the more you breathe through your nose, the more toned your nasal passages become, and the easier it is for you to breathe through your nose. This is really helpful for the body overall, as the lungs tend to uptake more oxygen when you’re breathing through the nose.

Give it a try during the day first, see how it feels to make your body breathe through the nose, and then give it a try and night if you’re curious. I sleep so much better when I do! Happy Friday!

Monday morning mantra:

Here’s a quote for the week, dedicated to all the water that hold us. We’ve been diving into the heart of our island, St. Mary Lake, a lot this summer, as well as the beautiful Salish Sea. And so here, an ode to all the water that holds us, on this day of water blessings.

Sunday morning musings:

This is a photo I took at 4:30am yesterday, Saturday, of the full moon. It becomes less easy in these still moments, connected to Mother Nature, to deny that we are flesh and blood creatures living on a planet that is catapulting through space around a star. Even though that constant realisation can make one feel small, it also makes it easier not to sweat the small stuff.

Early morning moments of contemplative connection to the earth and the moon are so helpful for me to frame the rest of my day. I drank in the beauty of this full moon moment, fully embraced the “here today gone tomorrow” nature of this life, and then set my intention to fully enjoy my day with my family. And enjoy we did! We enjoyed it so much that we have not a single photo to show for our paddle over to Wallace island, our wood stacking afternoon, or our blackberry foraging evening. But oh we did enjoy!

Have you had a sacred moment of connection to Mother Earth or family this full moon weekend? Please feel free to share in the comments if you’re moved to do so.

Happy blessed Sunday all, luna ;) xx

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY!

Next Saturday we have a very special lady, Jessica Bennett, travelling over from the big island to deliver an amazing event of nourishment, The Nervous System Reset.

Our nervous systems tend to run on overdrive, and it’s very necessary to reset them from time to time. I know I need it, I’ll be there!

Please peruse the details here on her page, or message me for more details. You can also look on our events page on the Ganges Yoga Studio website. Jessica and I look forward to seeing many of you next Saturday!

Good morning!

Honest truth: I have struggled for too long with how to use social media effectively and positively. But here’s the thing: I say to myself all the time that I struggle with it, I say to myself and others that I don’t like it, so why am I surprised that it’s not a positive space for me?

Yes of course, social media has a dark side, one that can potentially lure you down a path of endless scrolling and negative comparisons.

BUT!!! It can also have the beautiful side of connecting with others and creating community with likeminded spirits.

So here’s my promise to myself and to you as members of my wider community:

I solemnly swear to use this platform to authentically share people and practices that may help your wellness journey.

There we go. I’ve changed my energy around it. My intention is to help, and so it shall be.

Happy weekend from me, my coffee, my wim hof poncho, and my cat Maple ;)
