Leigh Anne Milne, RMT, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT, YACEP, C-KFIY, Iyengar certified, Kripafoundation Iyengar Yoga certified, Iyengar Yoga & Therapeutic Massage. Leigh began her journey with Iyengar yoga in the early 1980’s and fell in love with this intelligent approach to body mind awareness; as her practice deepened the spiritual benefits became increasingly important. As a registered massage therapist (

RMT), a certified Iyengar method yoga instructor and Personal Trainer, Leigh has found the combined knowledge of yoga, health care, anatomy of the body and sports physiology to be a rich foundation for her holistic practice. Leigh Anne is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and Certified Yoga Therapist and a recognized teacher of teachers with Yoga Alliance. A dynamic approach to classical yoga, developed by Mr. Iyengar of India, whose contribution to yoga in the 20th century is unparalleled, leading the Oxford Dictionary to add the term “Iyengar Yoga” to the most recent addition. He is the author of Light on Yoga, considered a master treatise on yoga practice and the innovator of the use of props, commonly used in many yoga studios around the world today. Longer holdings and study of the asana (poses) cultivate the structure for the breath and take the student deeper inward. The Iyengar method of yoga is known for detail, alignment and sequencing, which ultimately work on the consciousness, moving the student towards dhrana, dhyana and samadhi, embracing all eight limbs of yoga. Massage therapy is an evidence informed treatment applying best practices: Current evidence, clinical experience and patient input. It is an effective treatment for the symptoms of stress such as headache and lowered immune function. Immediate relief can be found while addressing the underlying cause. Massage therapy is also an effective treatment for pain and soft tissue injury, including sports injury and surgical rehabilitation. Massage Therapy is especially efficacious in the treatment of chronic pain. Talk to your doctor about a referral for massage therapy.

Tolasana, 2019, age 60, Goa, India.
This BKS Iyengar quote "Don’t bring yesterday’s poses to today’s practice" has changed meaning for me over time. It now means acceptance. Stay inquisitive and practice santosha.
I still do this pose, but I do it with blocks under my hands to relieve my left wrist arthritis pain.

Thank you to .str for her perfect logo creation. It is exactly what we hoped for. Much gratitude 🙏

Sunday March 24th

10 AM to 1 PM Pacific Time

Yoga philosophy and scripture frequently speak to how we will die. It is posed as a question in the Bhagavad Purnima, imparted as wisdom in the Bhagavad Gita, and an entire limb of yoga as Pratyahara in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. And of course, there is Savasana.

Yet through fashion and youth culture, Western yoga has completely "buried" this truth. Why? Are we death-phobic?

This three-hour workshop will be comprised of guided meditation and pranayama interspersed with the magic of story and readings from the above scriptures intended to guide you toward a transcendent presence through direct experience.

There will also be space held for a Q&A.

If you have ever thought about death, especially your death, or how you may support the passage of another, this workshop is intended to offer you an opportunity to explore how it may bring you peace.

Leigh Anne Milne has spent her life serving others, as a Registered Massage Therapist, Yoga teacher and therapist, and educator in both. Following years of study in the death field with Ram Dass, Bodhi Be, Jerrigrace Lyons, and others, in 2017 Leigh added End of Life Care Doula and Death Doula to her formal path. Bringing awareness to how yoga prepares us for this greatest of journeys is a special interest.

Online only. No previous yoga experience is necessary. You will want 2 to 3 blankets, a bolster, or a firm pillow long enough to support your head and spine, 2 yoga blocks, or 2 equally thick books. A yoga mat or carpet. Yoga props were developed from items found in an Indian household. Improvise.

Happy New Year and welcome to 2024. You may, like me feel the world has dramatically changed in the past few years. More than ever we need our yoga and our foundation in the Yamas and Niyamas which could be considered Values and Virtues. I have recently returned to teaching from this foundation. Ahimsa, the first Yama compels us to Do no Harm, which on the surface sounds simple enough. But when we explore this more deeply and if we can take in all the ramifications of our thoughts, actions, and words it becomes much more daunting. It is a partner to the Nyama Saucha meaning cleanliness. If we can purify our thoughts, actions, and words how would our world be? Can we make a difference?
In Light on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali BKS Iyengar describes someone steeped in Ahimsa "In the vicinity of a yogi, men and animals who are otherwise violent and antipathetic towards each other, abandon their hostility and exhibit friendliness and mutual tolerance"
So let us in this spirit continue to practice!
This year I have much to offer to help support you on your path. Both Online and In-person. Sadhana Entrepreneur is a newer endeavor to support those who wish to expand their leadership role. For RMTs seeking credit and wishing to expand their homecare skills, I'm offering a discount on a popular course. For Yogis and RMTs I have both online and in-person upcoming workshops. I hope you'll find the topics interesting. I've been diving deep and feel I have a lot to say and share and I want to hear from you too. All times are Pacific time and prices are in Canadian dollars.
Light and Love, Leigh

Yoga for the Wisdom Years
For experienced students and teachers of yoga.

Sunday, February 25th, 2024

10 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 2:30 PM Pacific time

Guruji Iyengar wisely told us "I don’t bring yesterday’s poses to today’s practice". (I don’t want yesterday’s experience. I want to see what new understanding may come in addition to what I felt up to now.). What does this statement mean to you now compared to what it has meant to you in the past? For me, it used to mean I should aspire beyond yesterday's limitations, today the meaning is more one of reflection and acceptance.

What I love about the photo I chose for this workshop is it expresses something of the yogi and their relationship to their props/practice. For many a lifelong relationship.

We will spend the first 30 to 40 minutes in introductions and earnest discussion regarding what this subject of yoga and aging means for you. We may discuss relevant education in anatomy, physiology, and pathology if appropriate.

Together we will explore a changing frontier through Svadyaya and Abhyasa (study/reflection and practice); Santosha and Tapas (contentment and passion). Bring your challenges, your warrior's heart, and your compassion.

Once registered, please submit by email your reasons for attending and your goals for this workshop, and your practice.

Online Only

You will need yoga props - a mat, belt, 2 yoga bricks, a bolster, 2 to 4 blankets, and a chair. Improvise with household items.

You may wish to bring a cup of tea, your Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and Light on Yoga.

20 day recording will be available
