The Greenwoods Foundation conducts fundraising activities designed to increase the care, comfort, and quality of living of those who live in the Greenwoods Eldercare residential care facilities. The Greenwoods Eldercare Society (Greenwoods long-term care and Braehaven assisted living facilities) and The Greenwoods Foundation are non-profit charities created to serve vulnerable citizens who need care, comfort and medical assistance. The Foundation holds several fundraising events during the year to raise money to support the needs of the Society. In particular, there is an annual Garden Bench raffle held during August and September each year, culminating in the bench draw on the day following the Salt Spring Fall Fair. There is also an annual donation appeal that takes place in November and December of each year. Greenwoods relies on community support to continue to improve the quality of living for the Residents of the two facilities. Salt Spring FOREST OF MIRACLES

DATES: Saturday December 3 – Saturday December 17, 2022

LOCATION: Harbour House Hotel, Salt Spring Island

THE EVENT: Country Grocer is donating 10 Christmas trees to the event. The Chamber of Commerce invited businesses to sign up for a tree on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cash portion of the entry fee goes to Copper Kettle, the other half will be used for prizes at the tree auction.

Each participating business created some Christmas WOW! by decorating its tree in an extraordinary way! These decorated trees can be viewed at Harbour House Hotel, from Saturday December 3 through Saturday December 17. Entry fee for the public to view the ‘tree show’ will be a non-perishable donation to the Food Bank of SSI (to be dropped off at the Hotel).

THE AUCTION: On Saturday December 17, at 3:00 pm, there will be an auction event at the Harbour House Hotel. Attendees at this event can bid on a particular tree to donate it to a needy family that otherwise would not have a tree. (The recipient families, who will remain anonymous, will be selected by SS Elementary School and Fulford Elementary School, 5 families each). In return for their high bid, the winner will get a tax receipt from the Greenwoods Eldercare Society for the full bid value plus receive a specialized thank you prize (one of the gift certificates from the participating business). The auction will be run by Greenwoods Eldercare Society. Auctioneer will be Robert Steinbach.

Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering. Currently there is a high need for volunteers to support the Greenwoods Foundations’ Bench Raffle. As in previous years, local craftsman Luke Hart-Weller has created a one-of-a-kind garden bench which is truly a piece of art. Volunteers are needed to assist with community ticket sales.

Special thanks to Country Grocer for their sponsorship of the bench.
