Whenever I put together some homeopathic remedies, I get a little reminder from the past with this photo that’s tucked with my medicating potencies. It’s my graduation ceremony from the Vancouver Homeopathic Academy in 2004, 26 years ago! It was the most illuminating 4 years with the smallest group in the school’s history. This made it feel extra heartfelt, authentic and supportive. These women watched me get pregnant and then bring my baby to class. Avalon had so many aunties. 💕I also remember lots of chocolate, culminating with a chocolate fountain at the ceremony. Some of use are still in the trenches, holding space and prescribing this precious form of medicine. school

Before we jump into fall, which is just around the corner, let’s make one last ode to the 5th season in the Chinese Medecine annual cycle: Late Summer. ☀️

This season is ruled by the Earth element and appreciation is due! Earth has the capacity to put out fire, direct water, generate precious metal and support the growth of plant life. Let’s bend down and kiss her for a second shall we? 💫

Oh, and speaking of the plants Let us feast on the abundance of fruits and berries and veggies galore! 🍠 🥕 🍅

Late summer is the time to embody gratitude for our riches, and also compassion because before too long those riches will dwindle, and we will again feel longing for the bright orange sun and verdant earth, while eating the last of our homemade salsa. 🙏🏻

How to live with the season is the cornerstone of TCM and living a healthy life. In addition to cultivating our inner world with gratitude and compassion, our actions and lifestyle in supporting a healthy diet are key, as Late Summer is the associated with the digestive system.

One can eat lots of orange foods like squash and yams and carrots and get to bed a little bit earlier. 🧡

Self Luxury Day for me was an almond croissant , after .ney.ah ✂️ cleaned up my mane and made me feel amazing!

I hope you are all having a good summer, making the most of it while you can. 🌊 ☀️ 🌲

While on the topic of self luxury, I want to let you know about my 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 on Salt Spring: I’m now offering 𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗖𝗨𝗣𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 at The Heart Clinic.

Last spring, I took advanced training on the subject by my incredible teacher and have been polishing my skills with some rave reviews from my Guinea pigs…or is it hedgehogs?🦔

Never in my life, as a person who’s endured countless cosmetic surgeries on my own face, and consequently dismissed any beauty rituals beyond washing my face and wearing a funky outfit, never did I imagine I would end up a) offering facial acupuncture and b) absolutely loving it.

We all deserve to love our own natural beauty, the one that glows from the inside as a result of living a life true to ourself. By using facial points to ultimately treat the whole body, we rebalance and invigorate our life force until it shines out from our eyes and through the glow of our complexion.

In TCM this is known as the Shen. Translated as Spirit or Presence, a healthy Shen is your birth right. ✨ Experience the deep pleasure of looking in the mirror and loving yourself.
