If you are looking to make a charitable donation before the end of 2025, consider making a donation to the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. They help fund many meaningful community programs, including having an overnight security guard in our shelter expansion for the winter months. They have been so generous to us, and the partnership between our two agencies has been fantastic. They are very close to reaching their 2025 fundraising goal. If you would like to help them reach that goal, click the link below to make a donation before midnight! :)

The Liberals are taking away free mail service for blind Canadians.

They just added $78 billion to Canada’s debt, but couldn’t find the money to keep a 40-year-old program that helps people who are blind or have low vision get books and audio materials.

For more than four decades, this free postage has helped 1.5 million Canadians, including many in rural and remote communities. It has made a real difference for learning, independence, and staying connected.

Cutting this service won’t fix the financial problems the Liberals created. It only makes life harder for people with disabilities.

This decision should be reversed immediately.

Ontario’s correctional staff are facing a mental-health crisis across the entire province. Understaffing, growing trauma, and unsafe working conditions aren’t limited to one region — every provincial jail is under pressure.

CBC News recently covered the situation in Northern Ontario. The concerns they highlighted are the same ones frontline staff are experiencing everywhere: increased violence, crushing workloads, and not enough support for the people who keep these facilities running.

This isn’t a Northern issue. It’s an Ontario issue.

If you’re interested in understanding the reality correctional officers are living with, search this headline on CBC News:

“Northern Ontario jail staff raise alarms over pay gaps, contract hiring and mental health”

The more people know, the harder it is to ignore.
