Hormone therapy (sometimes also referred to as hormone replacement therapy/HRT or menopause hormone therapy/ MHT)

Hormone therapy is a treatment used to reduce symptoms associated with decreasing or fluctuating hormone levels. It is used for surgical menopause, premature or early menopause as well as in perimenopause and post menopause.

Hormone therapy is indicated for many symptoms associated with the menopausal transition including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and bone loss and can also improve symptoms like sleep disturbances, brain fog, mood, pelvic health, sexual health and libido. Hormone therapy can also reduce the risk of other health issues such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and fractures, cancer mortality and blood sugar dysregulation.

The average age of menopause in Canada is 51, with most reaching menopause between the ages of 45-55 however symptoms can start in your early 40s or even 30s. If you are experiencing changes in your cycle (shorter cycles, longer cycles, changes in bleeding), and/ or any of the symptoms listed above, reach out. I’m here to help! You do not need to wait until you’ve gone 12 months without a period to get support.

Hormone therapy is very individualized and different doses, routes, formulations and regimens are used based on your health history and response to treatment. It generally involves using estrogen +/- progesterone. Hormone therapy can also have some side effects and risks, and these should be discussed with your practitioner.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, there are also many other tools I use to support you in this transition including diet and lifestyle changes, herbal medicine, natural health products and more

I am now offering an appointment for cervical screening & breast/ chest exams.

This visit includes:
- Gynecologic exam & PAP test
- Vaginal swabs as needed

Current guidelines recommend pap testing every 3 years starting at age 21 for people with a cervix who are or have been sexually active.

Hormone health ✨

Hormones have such a dramatic impact on our health and the way we feel. They can make us feel fantastic when they’re optimized ☺️ and they can make us feel so unwell when they’re not 😔

What is optimal?
This varies person to person and is individualized based on multiple factors like symptoms you’re experiencing, medical history and stage of life (e.g., trying to conceive, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause/menopause, etc.)

One of my main focuses in my practice is hormone health. I support people of all ages with hormone related conditions including:
- Fertility support & progesterone hormone therapy
- Menopause & menopause hormone therapy
- Thyroid health & natural desiccated thyroid therapy
- PMS & PMDD
- PCOS & insulin resistance

If you’re wondering about hormone health or struggling with any hormone related conditions, lets chat about it, I’d love to help ♥️

Well, in the blink of an eye our little baby is 3 months old. Being Nathan’s mommy has been the most fulfilling experience of my life and I can’t wait to continue to watch him grow and learn every day.

I have loved soaking up all this time with my sweet boy, and am more motivated than ever to help the people & families of Sarnia Lambton. Whether you’re looking for support with growing your family, pregnancy care and labour prep, feeding your little ones, pediatric care or other health goals, I’m very much looking forward to returning to work shortly to support you.

As many of you have probably seen, Lovewell has made the tough decision to close their doors so I will be opening my practice back up in a new location at the end of my maternity leave. Keep an eye out for a post with this info!!
