Now that beach season has come to a close, it might be a good time to consider trying Cupping Therapy. Cupping uses suction at varying levels of intensity to relieve fascial restriction, improve circulation, increase range of motion and accelerate tissue recovery (to name a few benefits).

It’s also a nice option for those of us who prefer deeper pressure massages (deep tissue), as cupping can reach the deepest layers of our tissues, and remain on those areas for a maximum of 30 minutes. I am always sure to start very slowly and work up to more cups and greater suction as tolerance increases.

I like to use cupping in combination with Swedish massage in order to multitask and treat numerous areas at once— the cups work while I work and it’s an efficient use of time and energy. 👍🏻🙂

The image shown is an example of someone experiencing moderately high suction, with large size cups along the erector spinae muscle group, showing a normal level of stagnation. [my personal opinion]

S U N D A Y 🌞

A day of rest, of moving slowly, a day for family, or self-care. A day to prepare for your week ahead, and to reflect on the week past.

After a long cold winter (one which was particularly difficult for many of us), I like to check in at the end of the week (or beginning depending on your viewpoint). Some questions I have used on repeat are:

🌿How were my emotions this week?
🌿How was my relationship?
🌿Did I follow through with my self-care?
🌿What stage of the cycle am I in? (VERY important for managing self care, boundaries, workload, extracurriculars, etc)
🌿What am I grateful for? (I write these down any time I begin to fall into a “bleh” mood… gratitude is magic✨)
🌿Did I waste too much time on negativity? On comparing myself to others? On the news? On TV?
🌿How was I productive?
🌿How did I treat my body? My mind?
🌿How can I improve next week?

Basically I write down how I felt the past week and then look at the reasons why it was either awesome, or brutal, then I make a simple, no-pressure plan to improve moving forward. Write down all the good things you did for yourself, your family, your partner, your work, check them off the list even days after you did them. Give yourself some credit, times are tough and you deserve all the dopamine you can get.

I’m telling ya, it’s working. ✨🙏🏼

Pssssst — Hey beautiful, ya, you 😉

I just want to tell you that it’s okay for you to slow down. As you consider signing your kids up for 765473 activities and events this summer, or you try to rapidly fill your planner with all the things the warm season has to offer, remember that you might just want to sit still here and there. 🤍🌿

Well friends, today is the day! 🏡💪🏼👷🏻‍♀️🛠️

Big Darla the Dumpster has arrived and officially marks the beginning of stage 2 of our home renovation!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 (turning the garage into a master bedroom wooooooohooooo) Darla will only be here for 2 weeks but I didn’t want anyone to be taken off guard.

Most of you knew this day was coming but I assure you your appointments will not be affected by this renovation. 🫶🏻

PARKING: You can park beside Big Darla, or behind her if you’re in a small car, or if you wish you can park on the side street across from our house.

Exciting times !!! :)

Have an amazing weekend everyone!

Treatment room is all tucked in for the weekend 😴

•••••••••••••••••••••••••

Read on for little tangent:

It’s been a wild phase of rapid change over the winter — In 6 months I have gone from working 3 hours a week (for the last 2 years) to now treating 15+ hours from Tuesday to Thursday.

I’m not that person who has it all together right off the bat, but I am learning more every day how to be a better massage therapist, healthcare provider, and professional, for myself, and for everyone that comes into this space and puts their trust in my hands.

I am so grateful for this trust, for your support, and for all of the incredible positive feedback I have received— 🥹🙏🏼✨

I read recently that if you improve by only 1% every day, in a year you will be 37 X better than you were when you began…37 times better! What an incredible perspective… 🙌🏼

So here’s to improving a little bit every day. Putting in the work, but keeping the balance. Being kind to yourself, and to others.

You’re doing your best and that is all you can do. 🤍
