We had such a great time at Northern High School’s Women in STEM Job Fair! 💜

A big thank you to Northern for inviting Rapids Family Health Team to speak with students about careers in healthcare. Our Registered Dietitian Beth, Occupational Therapist Julia, and Health Promoter Rae loved sharing their journeys — how they chose their careers, the education and training required, and what their day-to-day roles look like now.

It was inspiring to connect with so many bright, curious students exploring their futures in STEM. We’re proud to support and empower the next generation of women in healthcare! 👩‍⚕️✨

February is Black History Month

This year’s theme, “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations,” celebrates the legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black communities past, present, and future.

At Rapids Family Health Team, recognizing Black History Month is especially important in healthcare. Black individuals and communities have made vital contributions to medicine and health advocacy, while also continuing to experience health inequities, systemic barriers, and disparities in care. Acknowledging this history helps us reflect on bias in healthcare, strengthen culturally safe practices, and reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion, and respectful, compassionate care for all.

We encourage everyone to learn more about this year’s theme and the history behind it by visiting www.blackhistorymonth.ca.

🩺📚 Equity in healthcare starts with awareness—and continues with action.
