After A Loss

After A Loss We provide practical grief assistance to grieving individuals and their families in a compassionate and dynamic way. Then my Mother died unexpectedly.

We offer support for any type of death or loss, which includes event planning, personal concierge services, catering, education, and more. What clients are saying:

"After A Loss gave us the helping hand and comfort that was needed with the “little things”. Nothing is ever easy when you are grieving, and After A Loss helped with the general know-all of what we needed… even before we did! Heather i

s an amazing woman with the ability to take care of you in a respectful way, while also making you feel as though you have known her your whole life. Bereavement planning and losing my mom was not something that I was prepared for, but After A Loss assisted in ways I had never thought I needed. Food was ready, coffee freshly brewed, house spotless, relatives picked up and delivered to the hotel. I would never have made it through my mom’s death without Heather and her company After A Loss, as their professionalism, calmness, and planning made things easier on me."

-Marnie, Banker, Skating Coach

"After A Loss is incredible! Heather’s work was showcased with efficiency and professionalism; she was compassionate, caring, and understood our needs as a bereaved family. After A Loss arrived at our home and within a very short time, had completely set up a meal for 25 people, and we didn’t have to do ANYTHING! Heather brought everything with her, and served our family with the utmost care, leaving us to our monumental task—gathering together to say goodbye to our Father. When we were finished and left for the funeral home, Heather stayed at our home. After I arrived at the funeral home, I realized I had forgotten a photograph I needed for the visitation… so I called Heather and asked her for help! Heather brought the picture of our Father to the funeral service, and I am forever grateful for it. When we returned home that evening, you couldn’t tell there had been a meal served to 25 people earlier, as my home was spotless. Fresh coffee was brewing, leftovers packed neatly away into the refrigerator, and finger snacks arranged on the table, as Heather knew we might be hungry afterward. After A Loss called in the days that followed, and I can say with certainty that the entire process was made easier for us with Heather’s help. I would recommend After A Loss to everyone!"

-Kelly, Palliative Care Specialist and Pain & Symptom Management

"Thank you for the amazing support following mom’s death. Words cannot express how grateful we are for everything After A Loss did during this most difficult time. When Mom went in for surgery, we never expected in a million years she would experience complications, and most of the week following her surgery is just a blur. After A Loss helped us get organized and planned the best celebration of mom we could have ever wanted. I think back now, and smile at every little detail that was mastered... right down to mom’s favorite wine! I smile to think Heather picked up on that when I mentioned it in the kitchen that day… amazing. We couldn't have gotten through that week and those important weeks following without After A Loss. Please know Heather made a difference in our lives, and it will not be forgotten."

-Allison and Family

"My mother made plans, during the time of her serious illness, to have Heather provide any additional help or assistance that may be required by our family during these times when a helping hand may be needed. After A Loss had made it clear to our family that they were willing to help in any way they can, and Heather’s expertise in hospice/palliative care helped our family to become more familiar with end-of-life practices as Mom’s health declined. After my mother died, Heather was incredibly knowledgeable about the transition that takes place from hospice to the funeral home, and guided us through a difficult process. It was so nice to have someone around who had our best interests at heart, and could do anything that we requested. After the funeral, Heather also prepared a tremendously satisfying roast beef dinner for my family in our kitchen, and was an amazing emotional support for our family! Having a professional care giver nearby is certainly a much-needed service during dark times, and I am so thankful for everything After A Loss did for us."

-Carrie, Aunt, Sister, Canadian Mental Health Association

"I would like to thank Heather Taylor and her company After a Loss. I have been a nurse for over 30 years, and have always been the one to handle everything. I was completely lost, and that’s when Heather became my hand of hope. After A Loss helped me wade through the phone calls, prepare my home for the days ahead, assisted with paperwork, organized meals for my family, and most importantly was my rock. After A Loss was there with me in my deepest grief, and when I didn’t want to burden my family with my grief. Heather called, texted, and uplifted me in the dark days that followed my mother’s death. After A Loss’ commitment and ability to cater to what a person needs is amazing, and the service After A Loss provides is truly a blessing."

-Maryhelen, RN

"The services After A Loss administers are incredible, and I am grateful that a service like this exists in a time of need for families. Heather is a caring, supportive, and knowledgeable grief professional who brings happiness and joy wherever she goes. After A Loss is very much needed not just in our community, but all over, as the business can transform into whatever you need it to be. After A Loss does a wonderful job in helping take the pressure off others, and After A Loss has inspired me to become a Personal Support Worker so that I may too give back meaningfully to the community."

Semi Colon ;

The symbol encourages people to think of their lives as an ongoing journey, even when faced with difficult moments, rather than choosing to “end” their story.

The semicolon serves as a reminder that people have the power to continue and seek help, despite struggles they may encounter.
