Postpartum Experiences During the Holidays ✨
The holidays can bring connection and celebration — and they can feel especially heavy during the postpartum season.
With shifting hormones, changes in your body and family rhythms, and expectations from others, it makes sense if this time feels overwhelming or tender.
A few gentle reminders to support you this season:
💜 Boundaries are care
You don’t have to show up the way you always have. It’s okay to say no, arrive late, or leave early. Honouring what you’re physically and emotionally able to do is an act of care — even if others don’t fully understand. Having a shared plan with a partner or support person can help hold those boundaries with you.
💜 You decide what feels right for your baby
If passing your baby around doesn’t feel supportive, that’s enough reason. Baby-wearing or keeping your little one close is a valid choice. You are the expert on your baby and your wellbeing.
💜 Rest is not optional — it’s necessary
Postpartum bodies and nervous systems need rest. The holidays don’t require you to push past exhaustion. Slowing down and adjusting expectations is part of honoring this new chapter.
At Breland Counselling & Support, works alongside postpartum therapy participants using narrative therapy practices — including narrative composition, externalization, deconstruction, and identifying unique outcomes — to support people in shaping their stories with care and compassion.
