💜 What is Somatic Experiencing? 💜

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a gentle, body-focused approach that helps people notice and release the lingering effects of stress, trauma, and overwhelm. Instead of just talking about experiences, SE invites participants to tune into bodily sensations, helping the nervous system find balance and regulation.

At Breland Counselling & Support, we use Somatic Experiencing alongside narrative therapy to support participants in reconnecting with their bodies, reclaiming safety, and exploring the stories that live in both mind and body. It’s about creating space for awareness, choice, and self-compassion — at your pace. 💜

🌷 Spring into Collective Care: Drive-Through Event

Sometimes, the idea to show up for community starts with a simple moment—hearing a need, noticing a gap, or being invited into someone’s story 💜

That’s what sparked this.

Breland Counselling & Support is hosting a Spring into Collective Care: Drive-Through Event in support of 7th Generation Rising. We’re inviting you to join us in collective care by contributing items that can make a meaningful difference this season.

We are currently seeking:
🌿 Rubber boots, Shoes
🌿 Shirts, Pants, Hoodies, Jackets, Hats, Socks
🌿 Blankets
🌿 Period products
💜 Cash or gift cards are also welcome—these allow 7th Generation Rising to meet urgent needs as they arise

As the snow melts and the seasons shift, access to dry, comfortable clothing and essential items continues to matter in very real ways.

✨ How it works:
Drive up, drop off your donations, and we’ll take care of the rest—ensuring everything is shared with care through 7th Generation Rising.

This is one small way we can move alongside community and respond to what’s being shared with us 💜

💫 When Emotions Feel Big

Does your teen seem more irritable, withdrawn, or overwhelmed lately?

💭 Emotional outbursts, mood swings, or shutting down can be signs that a young person is feeling overloaded. Counselling can help them:
🌿 Understand what’s behind their emotions
🌿 Build tools for calming and communication
🌿 Strengthen relationships at home and school

Therapy can be a place where youth learn to name what’s happening inside — and start feeling more like themselves again.

💜 If your teen has been feeling overwhelmed, therapy can help bring calm back to the chaos — book a session today.

💡 Did You Know? 💡

You don’t need to attend couples counselling as a couple!

Sometimes attending on your own can help you explore your experiences, patterns, and boundaries within a relationship. Working alongside a therapist individually can support growth, clarity, and healthier communication — whether or not your partner is ready to join.

At Breland Counselling & Support, we hold space for therapy participants navigating relationships in ways that feel safe, supportive, and participant-centered. 💜

✨ New Offering: Mental Health On-Site Support at Events ✨

What would it look like to have mental health support woven into the spaces where people gather? At Breland Counselling, we’re now offering on-site mental health support at events — because care doesn’t only belong inside an office.

Whether it’s a conference, community gathering, workplace event, or high-impact day, having a therapist present can:

💜 Offer grounding support in real-time
💜 Create space for big feelings to be witnessed
💜 Support participants navigating overwhelm, anxiety, or activation
💜 Contribute to a more inclusive, participant-centered environment

We believe care can be proactive, relational, and woven into community spaces — not just something accessed after the fact.

If you’re planning an event and want to prioritize collective care, we’d love to be alongside you.

🌿 Caring for Ourselves and Our Community This Spring

As seasons shift and life continues to be full and unpredictable, we know that plans sometimes need to change. Appointments may need to be cancelled or rescheduled for many reasons — and we want to name that navigating this with care matters.

At the same time, our counsellors reserve session time specifically for each therapy participant. Short-notice cancellations can be difficult to fill and impact our collective capacity to offer support.

Our practice asks for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We hold this policy not as punishment, but as boundaries as care — care for our practitioners, our participants, and our wider community.

If something unexpected comes up, please reach out as soon as possible. When available and appropriate, virtual or phone sessions may be an option to help maintain connection.

Together, we can honour one another’s time, energy, and needs — moving with care, accountability, and community in mind. 💜

If it sounds like Ross saying “I’m fine”…

there’s usually a bit more going on. 😅

Therapy: where we get curious about the “fine.”

✨ Did you know Breland Counselling & Support offers Wellness Speaking Engagements? ✨ 💜

Our team is passionate about bringing conversations on collective care, narrative practices, and community well-being beyond the therapy room and into workplaces, schools, and community spaces.

Through workshops, presentations, and facilitated discussions, we walk alongside groups as they explore stories around mental wellness, boundaries as care, cultural identity, and supportive environments. Each engagement is shaped with intention, connection, and Métis-owned leadership at its core.

If your organization or community is looking to deepen meaningful conversations around wellness, we would love to collaborate with you. 💜
