As an ND who focuses on metabolic health, women’s health and fertility, and gut health, I talk about certain topics with my patients more than others.

In 2025, these were the top 3 topics I discussed with patients.
1. Blood sugar balance
2. Importance of blood work to rule out basic deficiencies (ie iron deficiency or low vitamin D)
3. Working on calming the nervous system and supporting the stress response

If any of these topics are top of mind for you on your health journey, be sure to come see me.

Sugar. Alcohol. Gluten. And just plain over indulging can leave you feeling ‘off’ after the holidays.

If you’re looking for some guidance to reset your eating habits or detoxify your system, I have two amazing options for you.

Both of these programs are self-paced which means you have the videos and content on-demand to go through at your own pace.

The Detox is a gut and hormone reset program that includes an eBook to guide you through the information, meal ideas, recipes, and how to properly detox and reset your gut and hormones.

Elevated Nutrition provides simple, evidence-based ways to start your nutrition journey. It covers topics like macronutrients, micronutrients, reading food labels, balancing blood sugar, and more.

Wellness and self-care are topics I discuss a lot with my patients, friends and family. Whether that’s detailed supplement plans or talking about the newest wellness trends, I love to chat about it.

Here is my Wellness Checklist for 2026.
1. Hydrate. You could say I’m a bit obsessed with hydration and water quality (yes I am a water snob). So not only is hydration on my list but hydration with clean, healthy filtered water. Two filtration systems I love are the Larq water bottle filtration and sanitization system (great for on the go), and the Berkey filtration system for at home, I also recommend ditching plastic and making the switch to a glass or stainless steel water bottle.

2. Movement. It’s no secret that I love Pilates but as a mom of 3 boys (and during hockey season), sometimes fitting a class into my schedule doesn’t work. So I make sure I go for a walk or add in some squats or push ups mid fort building! There are lots of great on-demand options you can find on YouTube for yoga, Pilates or mobility workouts as well. Movement doesn’t need to be complicated just do it!

3. Vitamin D. Adding Vitamin D to your wellness regime can make a big difference in your energy levels, and it’s an important vitamin for the absorption of other nutrients. I recommend having vitamin D levels tested so a dose can be individualized.

4. Prioritize Sleep. It can be tempting to scroll or catch up on your shows late at night but that can push your bedtime much too late to get a full 8 hours in before the next day. Focus on creating a sustainable bedtime routine and consistent bedtime - once you get into the habit, you’ll feel a difference!

You don’t need to overhaul your life to start to improve your health and wellness. I’d love to hear what your wellness checklist is!

Most people know that the liver is responsible for filtering toxins and blood, which makes it an important organ in the detoxification process.

But did you know your liver does more than just filter your blood? It's actually responsible for regulating inflammation and helping your immune system know when to respond and when to stay calm.

When your liver gets overloaded with toxins (from food additives, environmental chemicals, medications, even stress hormones), it can tip your immune system into overdrive or make it too sluggish to respond when you need it.

Studies show that supporting healthy detoxification can help reduce unnecessary inflammation, improve how your immune cells communicate, and keep your body's defence system balanced.

Though there isn't one magic solution, there are many ways to support both systems.

If you need a little more support and vetted information, check out my Kick the Sick and Detox programs—they work together for a reason.

PS. Grab them before December 31 to save!!

About 70% of your immune system lives in your gut. Let that sink in for a minute.

Your digestive tract isn't just about breaking down food—it's home to trillions of bacteria that influence everything from immunity and inflammation to mood and energy levels. Working with patients on gut health for years has shown me that it's still one of the most overlooked areas when it comes to overall wellness.

When your gut bacteria get out of balance (from things like stress, processed foods, antibiotics, or lack of sleep), it affects your entire body. You might notice you're getting sick more often, dealing with digestive issues, feeling more anxious or low, or struggling with skin problems.

The good news? Supporting your gut health doesn't have to be complicated. Simple changes like eating more fiber-rich foods, managing stress, and reducing inflammatory triggers can make a real difference.

This is exactly the kind of foundational work we focus on in naturopathic medicine—addressing root causes instead of just managing symptoms.

If you're dealing with ongoing health issues and think gut health might be playing a role, book a consultation with me at Origin Chiropractic and Wellness.

Or if you're looking for information on supporting your body's natural detoxification systems (which starts with gut health), check out my Detox program.

Living in Canada means dealing with a vitamin D problem that most people don't even realize they have.

From October through March, the sun's angle makes it nearly impossible for our skin to produce adequate vitamin D, even on sunny days. About 70% of Canadians are deficient in vitamin D during winter months, and this affects way more than just bone health.

Vitamin D plays a major role in immune function, inflammation regulation, and even mood. Low levels can leave you more susceptible to infections, feeling fatigued, and struggling with seasonal mood changes. Yet most people don't think about their vitamin D status until they're already dealing with these issues.

Though there isn't one perfect solution for everyone, getting your levels tested and addressing deficiencies now (before winter hits hard) is one of the most proactive things you can do for your health.

If you're looking for support on strengthening your immune system going into winter, check out my Kick the Sick program. Or if you need personalized guidance on testing and supplementation, book an appointment with me at Origin Chiropractic and Wellness.

Wellness isn't about avoiding every germ (that's impossible). It's about building resilience so your body can handle what comes its way.

This is where naturopathic medicine really shines. Instead of just treating symptoms, we look at the root causes—things like nutrient deficiencies, gut health, chronic inflammation, and stress—that weaken your immune system and make you more susceptible to getting sick.

As we head into winter with shorter days, less vitamin D from sunlight, and more time indoors with recycled air, your body needs extra support. But the key is being proactive now, not waiting until you're already down with a cold.

Supporting your immune system before winter hits means you're working with your body's natural intelligence instead of fighting against it when you're already struggling.

If you're looking for vetted & approved information to help build resilience for your family, my Kick the Sick program walks you through exactly what to do.
(Ps. Kick the Sick is on sale until the end of December!)
