As a local prenatal educator, I have experienced first-hand what a confident birth does. Empowerment is defined as “the process of enhancing the capacity of individuals or groups to make choices and to transform those choices into desired actions and outcomes.” I empower you to have a safe and healthy birth by building your confidence and reducing fears surrounding birth and beyond. The births of my own 3 children have taught me to empathize with women. Birth is a right of passage and I honour your hopes and dreams of birth and parenting. Eight years of working as a maternity nurse has given me the practical skills and professional knowledge to manage all types of childbearing women. I have served women, their partners, their children and family members move through the process of birth with knowledge and emphasize informed consent. I am also a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) which further supports my passion for evidence-based maternity care. Lamaze International highlights six care practices that promote normal birth as recommended by the World Health Organization:
• Labor begins on its own
• Freedom of movement throughout labor
• Continuous labor support
• No routine interventions
• Spontaneous pushing in upright or gravity neutral positions
• No separation of mother and baby with unlimited opportunities for breastfeeding
These six care practices provide the foundation for the knowledge and skills taught in my classes and help shape your own birth story. My hope is:
• To build confidence in yourself and trust birth
• To build confidence in your partner as your continuous support person
• To strengthen your partnership; launching couples into parenthood
• To develop supportive communities through classes

Today marks the beginning of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month.

We are so grateful for everyone in this community that are out there helping to end the stigma around pregnancy, infant, and child loss by sharing their stories and their beautiful babies.

As we have done in years before, we would like to share these stories with the world.

If you’d like us to help you share your baby with the world, tag us in a post dedicated to your baby and we’ll share it to our stories.

We know these stories can be tough on us, and they can bring on strong emotions so please know that our hearts are with you. 💜
