St. Angela Merici Residence Virtual Tour: https://stangelamr.ca/virtual-tour/
A life giving community of care, we St Angela Merici Residence is a Home like no other.

More than 30 years ago the Ursuline Sisters of Prelate built St Angela's for their aging Community. Now they have opened the doors to the public as a Personal Care Home. Many Sisters still live at St Angela's and they have taught, lived and emulated the life of St Angela and of St Ursula for the compassionate staff who do their work guided by those Charisms. Residents of St Angela’s are cared for as whole persons; physical, spiritual, intellectual and social beings. Caring is our Priority.

Our Values

1. Dignity
We respect and honour each other, recognizing that each person is made in the image of a loving God.

2. Compassion
We offer a healing presence with gentleness,
patience and kindness.

3. Cooperation
We create a culture that is safe, inclusive and supportive through teamwork and collaboration.

4. Stewardship
We are responsible and wise in the use of time,
talent and resources.

5. Hospitality
We nurture caring relationships within a warm, welcoming and generous environment. Services

As a personal care home, providing personal care is only part of what we do here. Our holistic approach to care means that we place equal importance to physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Our unique activities program, S.A.M.E. (social activity maintenance experience), is exclusive to St Angela Merici Residence. Activities are purposeful and meaningful, modified to make sure everyone can participate and enjoy regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. Our program has shown to lower anxiety and depression, and gives purpose and meaning to daily living by maintaining social skills and making real human connections. Resident meetings are once a month. Our wonderful kitchen staff make the transition to a new place easier by listening to likes and dislikes and getting to know residents. Breakfast starts at 6:45 and is available until before lunch. We don't require our residents to be up by a certain time to get breakfast; it's ok if you want to sleep in. Dinner is at 11:45am and is the heavier meal of the day, with Supper at 4:45pm - just a little lighter. Our menu is created and in compliance with the Canada Dietitians Guide and Canada Food Guide.

Compassionate staff are essential to the amazing care that residents receive from all of the departments; maintenance, kitchen, housekeeping, nursing/care-giving, recreation, spiritual care and administration. All who enter St Angela's are treated, as they should, with dignity and respect!

Santa couldn’t wait until tomorrow… 🎅❤️

He stopped by early today because our residents have been so good all year — and he wanted to bring a little extra joy before Christmas. Lots of smiles, a few happy tears, and plenty of holiday magic around here today. ✨🎄

Merry Christmas from all of us at St. Angela Merici Residence!

As Advent comes to an end, we anticipate the joys of Christmas and the love to be shared.

💜 Adjust-a-Sink Campaign Update 💜

Thanks to the kindness of our community, we’ve now raised $4,550 toward our $10,000 Adjust-a-Sink!

That means we’re almost halfway there to funding the height-adjustable salon sink we need to finally move ahead with our accessible salon project for residents who use wheelchairs.

This sink is the “main ingredient” that will make hair washing safer and more comfortable for residents, and easier on our staff.

If you’d like to help us get the rest of the way:
💻 E-transfer: donations@stangelamr.ca
(memo: “Adjust-a-Sink”)
💌 Cheques: payable to St Angela Merici Residence with “Adjust-a-Sink” in the memo

All donors to this campaign will be recognized on a donor plaque in our salon (or listed “In honour of / In memory of” if you prefer).

We’re not a registered charity, so we can’t issue tax receipts, but every dollar goes directly toward purchasing the Adjust-a-Sink for our residents.

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us get this far. 💕

We’re excited to share that Walking Stick Mobility has donated $500 toward our new height-adjustable salon sink at St. Angela Merici Residence.

This sink is the “missing piece” in our accessible salon project – it will make hair washing safer and more comfortable for residents who use walkers, wheelchairs, or have limited mobility.

Thank you, Walking Stick Mobility, for helping our residents keep their dignity, independence, and sense of pampering. Your support is bringing us one step closer to making our accessible salon a reality. 💇‍♀️🚿✨

We’ve been working on an accessibility project for our hair salon at St. Angela Merici Residence for quite some time.

The room is planned, the other costs are covered through earlier fundraising and what we’re contributing ourselves… and now we’re finally at the last stage:

🧴 buying the “main ingredient” that will actually let us start using the space – a height-adjustable Adjust-a-Sink.

Right now, washing hair for residents in wheelchairs can be awkward and uncomfortable. Staff bend and stretch to make it work, and residents often have to lean in ways that are hard on their necks and backs.

The Adjust-a-Sink is a special salon sink that raises and lowers so a wheelchair can roll right up. Residents can sit in comfort while staff work safely and easily.

The sink costs $10,000.
We’re very grateful to:
• The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy - Lawson Heights – $1,000 toward the sink
• Lindsay Timmerman from Sutherland Electric – $500 toward the sink

That means we still need to raise $8,500 to finally purchase this key piece of equipment and get the project going.

💻 E-transfer: donations@stangelamr.ca or a cheque made out to St Angela Merici Residence.

📝 Please include “Adjust-a-Sink” in the message line.

To thank those who support this project, we’ll be creating a donor plaque in our salon to recognize gifts (or “In honour of / In memory of” if you prefer).

St. Angela Merici Residence is a privately owned personal care home, not a registered charity, so we’re not able to issue tax receipts. Every dollar given to this campaign goes directly toward purchasing the Adjust-a-Sink for our residents.

If you’re looking for a practical way to support seniors this Christmas, we would be so grateful for your help in getting this last piece in place. 💜

Wishing you peace in the second week of Advent as we prepare the way of the Lord.

On Sunday, we will celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King, which marks the end of the liturgical year and asks us to focus on the eternal nature of Christ's rule rather than the temporary nature of earthly rulers.
