Friday, December 12, marked LutherCare Communities' Christmas Party and our annual presentation of the Spirit of LutherCare Awards. Every year, LutherCare recognizes four team members, nominated by their peers, in four different categories. CEO Gabe Lafond and CPO Laura Hunter presented the awards. Here are the 2025 award recipients.

☎️ Beware of "vishing" - voice phishing over the phone. Scammers often pretend to be the Canada Revenue Agency threatening legal action, or worse, they impersonate your grandchild in an emergency asking for money. The "grandparent scam" is particularly cruel because they use personal details from social media to make their story convincing. Always verify by calling the person directly at a number you know.

Welcome to the LutherCare Communities Board of Directors, Megan Krueger. Megan brings over a decade of experience in designing, managing, and delivering architectural projects across Saskatchewan, including her work as a Principal Architect with Wallace Krueger Architects.

Originally from Govan, Saskatchewan, Megan was baptized and attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church before moving to Saskatoon, where she graduated with high honours in Regional and Urban Planning from the University of Saskatchewan. She went on to earn her Master of Architecture (M.Arch) from the University of Calgary and further enriched her studies at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia.

Megan began her career at the University of Saskatchewan, where her outstanding work earned her a Lieutenant Governor Award. Since then, she has expanded her expertise in private practice, working on projects ranging from multi-residential developments to schools, daycares, and hotels. Her professional focus includes project management, public engagement, and advancing physical and neurological accessibility, as well as collaborating with Indigenous communities.

Passionate about community service, Megan is widely recognized for her volunteerism and advocacy. She has served as Architectural Representative and Vice Chair for the Design Council of Saskatchewan and currently holds the role of Vice President of the Saskatchewan Association of Architects.

We are excited to have Megan’s vision and leadership on our board as we continue to grow and innovate together.

The recent Spotlight on Seniors event was nothing short of inspiring! From heartfelt conversations and laughter-filled moments to sharing the services and supports that help seniors live independently and with dignity, the room was truly filled with warmth and community spirit.

We’re incredibly thankful to everyone who stopped by to connect with our team. Every handshake, story, and smile reminded us why we do what we do — to make life easier, safer, and brighter for seniors in our community. A big thank-you to Saskatoon Council on Aging Inc. for organizing such a meaningful event–it was a great opportunity to connect and celebrate seniors!
