Addressing a hearing loss includes more than just hearing aids . Hearing aids are an important part of the equation but clients do best when they have ongoing support from their Audiologist. Auditory rehabilitation is also very important .This may include individual sessions with your audiologist , group sessions such as Communication Cafe and invidually tailored software such as LACE AI Pro.

When the vestibular system is damaged, the effects can show up in more than just balance. 💙
Dizziness, brain fog, tinnitus, vision challenges, motion sickness, emotional symptoms are real and often point to an underlying vestibular issue.

If these symptoms feel familiar, tools like the Isabel Symptom Checker can help you understand possible causes and communicate with your doctor.

We are often asked what happens when you visit an audiologist for vestibular assessment .

A thorough case history is always completed ,followed by a comprehensive hearing evaluation .The audiologist will then complete a battery of objective diagnostic tests to assist with determining the cause of your dizziness and/ or balance symptoms .

The audiologist may also participate in treatment of your symptoms if these are felt to be related to
your auditory or vestibular system .

We are fortunate to
have Hannah McLeod , Au.D. on staff who has extensive experience in vestibular audiology . If you are looking for a baseline screening, diagnostic evaluation and /or vestibular rehabilitation , book a consultation at the clinic .

Did you know that speech therapy can significantly impact brain injury recovery?

Speech therapy is not just about teaching someone how to talk again. For people with a brain injury, the goal is to restore and enhance cognitive and communication skills. Speech therapy targets different areas, including speech, understanding language, cognitive skills, and swallowing. By using specialized techniques like neuro-cognitive retraining, language exercises, and assistive technology, speech therapists help patients regain their ability to communicate functionally.
