SWITCH - Student Wellness Initiative Toward Community Health A student-led interdisciplinary wellness project that provides free health and outreach services

SWITCH is a student-led interdisciplinary wellness organization based out of the Westside Community Clinic. The aim of the project is to provide free walk-in health and outreach services to the residents of Saskatoon’s core neighbourhoods. In addition to traditional clinical services, we offer counselling, speech language pathology, physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, cultural supports, gynecology, pediatrics, nutritional education, drop-in educational programming, and other outreach services.

SWITCH's 2025 Annual General Meeting is taking place on Wednesday, October 1st, from 6-8pm in Room 1A60 in the USask Health Sciences building!✨

Attendance is available to everyone! Simply scan the above QR code or tap the link in our bio to fill in the Form and sign-up to attend!🤩

Current SWITCH volunteers are also eligible to vote on changes to the SWITCH bylaws, as well as vote in elections for the SWITCH Board of Directors!😎

Lastly, pizza and refreshments will be provided to all those in attendance!🍕🥤

I have an illness where I can't stop telling airport jokes... my doctor says it's TERMINAL!✈️

SWITCH was happy to welcome two amazing guests this past week: Briane from Webbsprout Learning Programs, and Vic who taught our volunteers and community members some martial arts! Thanks again to Briane and Vic for stopping by!🤩

Big thanks goes out to yesterday's clinical students who did amazing work helping our patients with the help of clinical mentors: Emma (USask Medicine), Jasmine (URegina Social Work), and Kim (USask Nursing). Great job!🩺

Our outreach volunteers were nice and busy as part of our street squad, programming, and childminding sessions. A ton of meals were also made, which includes those made in preparation for the upcoming Community Veterinary Outreach event. Amazing work!😎

Want to volunteer at Saskatoon's student clinic? The deadline to sign-up for the upcoming SWITCH General Orientation, taking place on Monday, September 22nd, is TONIGHT at 11:59pm!

Any post-secondary student, regardless of field of study, can become a volunteer! And if you're studying medicine, nursing, social work, physical therapy, or another health professional discipline, you can be a part of our clinical team!🤩

Never lie to an X-ray technician. They can see right through you!🩻

Yesterday, we welcomed the Saskatchewan Pain Society to the clinic, who led a presentation on living with chronic, acute, and different types of pain. It was extremely informative, and we thank SaskPain again for sharing their experiences with us!👋

In the clinic, we would like to give a huge shoutout to our student social worker Jasmine for her tremendous service in helping our patients. A massive shoutout goes out to our clinical mentors Rachel (NP), Matt (PT), and Kendra (SW) for helping out too!🩺

Our outreach team was nice and busy cooking up some yummy pasta, helping to facilitate our programming session, and take care of children as part of childminding! Way to go!🍝

SWITCH Mondays are back, with a warm welcome to our friend Ruth who facilitated a discussion session regarding mental health, wellbeing, and addictions. Big thanks to Ruth for stopping by!

Another thanks goes out to our amazing clinical team, comprised of student doctors Maria and Emma (USask), student social worker Jasmine (URegina) and clinical mentor Jeannie (NP). Awesome job!🩺

Our outreach team did an awesome job too! They helped facilitate yesterday's programming session, ran our childminding service, and served a ton of food! You guys are the best!🤩

We had some cardiology puns to tell you, but they were too tachy…🫀😉

This week, SWITCH welcomed Dress for Success Saskatoon, who led a programming session on job interview preparation and overall dressing etiquette. We also had Dr. Maurice come in to lead another one of her amazing conversation circles with community members. Thanks again to Dress for Success Saskatoon and Dr. Maurice for dropping by!👔👗

Station 20 West is hosting another Community Vet Outreach Clinic (CVO) SEPTEMBER 24th 2025 from 12-8pm! If you are in need of one, SWITCH can provide a referral for your pets. We all want to keep our furry family members happy and healthy, and this is a great way to make sure they are up to par or address any issues etc!

Of course, you can discover other cool community resources at the CVO, including SWITCH and grab a snack while you wait!
