2025 was an incredible year for Elmwood, especially for the Elmwood Community Hub! ✨

For our first goal post of the year, we are excited to highlight Diana who has been working hard at steadily improving her math skills for over a year. ✨

In her Person-Centred Plan, she set the goal of continuing to build these skills and she has not only met that goal but exceeded it! Almost every day, you’ll find her at her table, working hard on her math sheets.

Thanks to a recent refresh from our Recreation and Community Inclusion Program teams, Diana now has a brand-new set of worksheets to keep challenging herself and growing her skills. 📝

Exciting progress is taking place on Houses #5 & #6, the final two homes in the Manor Transition Initiative! ✨

Residents have been taking drives past the sites to help visualize their future homes and understand the steps involved in developing them. Since their last visit in mid-December, there’s been some big changes - roof trusses are going up! 🏡

In the coming weeks, we’ll see the final trusses installed, along with doors and windows, bringing these houses even closer to becoming homes. 💖

We can’t wait for residents to see the incredible progress during their next scheduled drive later this month! 🚐

Today we are throwing it back to October 2025, when our Resident Supports team traveled to Regina for the Prairie Sexuality & Disability Conference! ✨

At Elmwood, we're committed to supporting the people we serve in every aspect of life - and that includes sexuality. Unfortunately, there’s still a significant gap in education and resources around sexuality and disability. That’s why our team was thrilled to attend this conference for the second time.

Our Supportive Independent Living Program (SILP) crew wrapped up 2025 in style, making the most of November and December! ✨

Here’s a peek at their adventures:
🛍 Kicking off the holidays at Elmwood’s Christmas Shopping Night at Lawson Heights Mall
🏒 Cheering on the Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club at every home game
☕ Enjoying weekly Coffee Group gatherings
🏊 Staying active with weekly swims at the city’s indoor pools
🎄 Celebrating together at the SILP Christmas Party and Elmwood’s big holiday celebration
🎨 Designing beautiful Christmas cards in Craft Club
✨ And the best part… welcoming a new SILP participant to the group!

2026 has already started off strong and everyone is excited to see what this year will bring! 💖

December has been a fun-filled and busy month for everyone here at Elmwood, but especially for our Recreation and Community Inclusion Program teams as residents have enjoyed all the holiday celebrations the season has had to offer. 🎄

In Episode 1, listeners joined us inside one of our Community Homes to learn more about the individuals Elmwood serves. Episode 2 looks ahead to the future of Elmwood and explores the vision behind the Community Hub. ✨

This new episode features Executive Director Dani Carr, Manager of Community Engagement Maggie Stevenson, and Jackie Smith, Capital Campaign cabinet member and daughter of one of Elmwood’s founders. Together, they explore the Community Hub project in greater depth and discuss the impact it will have on the Disability Community and on Saskatoon as a whole. 💖
