Frostbite (when your skin tissue freezes and dies) is a real concern in extreme cold like we are seeing in Saskatchewan today.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by dressing appropriately for the weather, protecting especially vulnerable parts of the body (like ears, hands, toes and your nose), and limiting your time outdoors. If you see signs of frostbite, get out of the cold immediately. Do not rub the area. Rewarming can be accomplished by soaking the affected area in warm (not hot) water for 15 to 30 minutes. You may need to seek medical attention. Check out this Mayo Clinic image describing the stages of frostbite.
