Diastasis Recti is when the linear alba ligament in the abdomen stretches and separates the ab muscles to make room for a growing baby. After childbirth, that separation may last for months or years. When a person flexes their abs, they might notice a bulge or doming of the belly.

Diastasis Recti is correlated with incontinence and low back pain but might not be a direct cause.

However, exercise can help. Particularly exercises that strengthen the deep core muscles. Unfortunately, tradition ab exercises can bring discomfort or risk injury.

My group fitness classes take place at a few times per week in groups of 6 or less, and they’re all women-only. Please be aware that we share the co-ed gym space with other patrons.

Come once, come every week, or come 3-4 times a week if you’re into that! I rotate exercises and muscle groups with each class, so you’ll always get a balanced workout.

The body mass index is widely used but a poor measure of health. It gives an estimate on how much body fat you are carrying based on your height and weight. However, your weight is just one measurement, it doesn’t give enough info about your health. We also need to take in account lifestyle habits (activity level, smoking, drinking etc) as likely they make a larger impact on health than just your weight. Thoughts about BMI scale?

Our Story

Personal and Group fitness training and nutrition coaching focusing on women and girls. Women who engage in regular physical activity decrease their risk of breast cancer. Strength training and high impact activities increase bone density and decreases the risk of osteoporosis. Exercise improves quality of life and well being and even increases cognitive functioning.

Unfortunately the fitness industry has not been giving adequate help to women and girls in regards to promoting exercise as a way to improve health. Less women and girls are in sports and physical activities than men, and culture stereotypes, myths, and body shaming make it difficult for women and girls to engage in healthy physical activities.

Superwomen Training is dedicated to provide women and girls safe and effective exercise programs, social support, and education on healthy nutrition, in order for women the excel in improving their athletic performance, health, and well being. Services are provided in a private studio in an non judgmental environment.

Although they may differ, men and women have superpowers and are capable of achieving goals in improving their health and fitness. The goal of Superwomen Training is to provide appropriate services to aid women in realizing their superpowers in fitness, and to encourage the spread of healthy behaviours for generations to come.
