Wherever you are receiving foot care, whether at home, at a clinic, or a Long Term Care home, your foot care nurse should be using sterile tools. You will know that they are sterile because they will be individually packaged, and opened in front of you. Your foot care nurse should have enough sets of tools for each patient they see that day.

Medical Device Reprocessing with an autoclave is the only acceptable method of sterilizing foot care tools, based on IPAC Canada's standards.

Would you let your dentist, or a surgeon use instruments that were not properly sterilized? Ask your foot care nurse about their tools, before your next appointment.

Foot care nurses with up-to-date training do not shop for their podiatry instruments at the hardware store! Podiatry rotary tools are specifically designed to be used on human skin and nails.

Before you book your next appointment, remember to ask your foot care nurse where they gets their tools and how they sterilize them.

My Name is Melody Pelletier-Cuillerier. I have been a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing since 2009.
In 2014, I chose to specialize in Basic, Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care. Since completing the Foot Care courses in 2015, I have been honored to provide nursing foot care services as an employee in clinics, long term care homes and home care settings.
After years of experience with excellent mentors and clients, I am happy to officially announce the opening of my own business providing nursing foot care on a mobile basis in homes, retirement residences, and long-term care facilities.
I strive to meet and exceed all client expectations. Safe, individualized foot care is provided using all appropriate infection prevention and control measures, and instruments that have been fully sterilized according to public health standards using an automatic autoclave.
