✨ The time to start therapy IS now!
See the signs that therapy is working and feel the difference ✨

Sometimes progress is quiet and steady. Here are a few ways you’ll know therapy is making a difference:

💡 You notice healthier coping skills in stressful moments.
💡 You react with more calm and less overwhelm.
💡 Your relationships feel more balanced and connected.
💡 You catch negative thoughts sooner—and can shift them.
💡 You feel lighter, more hopeful, and more yourself.

🌱 Why it matters
Therapy isn’t just for crisis—it’s an investment in your emotional health. The sooner you start, the sooner you can feel the benefits. Don’t put it off until things feel “too big.” Being proactive gives you the tools to handle life’s challenges before they pile up.

✨ Emotional Intelligence Strengthens Relationships ✨

When we communicate with emotional intelligence, we’re not just speaking — we’re listening, empathizing, and connecting. 💬💙

Emotional intelligence helps us:
🌱 Understand not only what others are saying, but how they’re feeling
🌱 Respond with compassion instead of reacting out of frustration
🌱 Create safety in conversations so others feel valued and heard
🌱 Strengthen trust, deepen bonds, and resolve conflicts in healthier ways

Whether it’s with a partner, friend, colleague, or family member, speaking with emotional intelligence builds bridges instead of walls. The more we practice, the stronger and more meaningful our relationships become. 🌉❤️

How can you bring more emotional intelligence into your conversations today?

We are here for you to strengthen your emotional skill set and your connection to others (see link in bio).

✨ Ever catch yourself stuck in the “what ifs”?
What if I fail?
What if it doesn’t work out?
What if something goes wrong?

Overthinking keeps us living in tomorrow’s worries instead of today’s reality. The truth is—most “what ifs” never even happen.

🌿 Mindfulness teaches us to gently bring our focus back to the present moment.
Instead of spiraling into “what if,” try asking:
👉 What is happening right now?
👉 How can I ground myself in this moment?

When we practice mindfulness, we let go of imaginary futures and create space for calm, clarity, and peace today.

💭 Take a breath. Let the “what ifs” go. Be here, now.

We are here for you with this and we are accepting new clients this fall (see link in bio).

🌟 Back-to-School Ready (Heart & Mind Edition!)

As the new school year approaches, it’s totally normal for both kids and parents to feel a swirl of excitement—and nerves. If that blend of butterflies and worry is more anxiety than thrill, you’re not alone…and you don’t have to face it alone.

Here’s how to support your child (and yourself) through this transition:

1. Normalize & validate their feelings

Let your child know it’s okay to feel anxious—many kids do. Saying things like, “I felt nervous too on my first day” lets them know they’re not broken—they’re just having valid emotions in response to change.

2. Ease in with gentle routines & familiarity

Shift bedtime, morning routines, and mealtimes a week before school begins. Visit the school ahead of time—peek inside classrooms, meet teachers, and talk about the layout together.

3. Tune in and role-play

Open the conversation with more than “How was school?” Try “What was one thing today that felt hard?” or “Can we act out saying hi to a new friend?”

4. Let counseling be part of the plan—not a last resort

Counseling can help children build emotional resilience: think relaxation techniques, mindfulness, creative expression, or simply having a safe space to talk. It’s also a great time for family-based support, allowing everyone to learn how to communicate better and reinforce coping strategies at home.

We can help your family with this (see link in bio).

Tag someone who might need to hear this—or save it for yourself if your heart (or your child’s) could use a little extra support. Let’s make this school year one where confidence, kindness, and courage lead the way.

We are accepting new and former clients back this fall season! 🍁

Men feel deeply. And we’re here to listen.

Too often, men are told to “man up” — to hide stress, pain, or sadness. But your emotions are valid. You’re human. And talking helps.

You don’t have to carry it all alone.

This is your reminder that men’s emotional health matters — and that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Whether you’re facing stress, burnout, relationship struggles, or just feeling emotionally stuck — talking it through with a counsellor can help.

Our counselling services are designed specifically to support men through life’s challenges. No judgment. Just honest, professional support.
You deserve to feel heard.

Are you building a foundation first that is sustainable and will support the changes that you are wanting to make for yourself?

For many of us, we jump from A to B, putting in place some big changes to our daily habits or even life situation, forgetting to pay attention to the basics. Change isn’t sustainable without first building a solid foundation.

Some of the basics that really support us both physically and emotionally include:

*good sleep hygiene
*healthy food options
*movement/exercise
*learning to process our emotions
*regulating our nervous system daily with these basics.

We are here for you with all of this. We take a holistic approach to your care which means the “basics” are always an integral part of our planning and treatment for you!

We are accepting new clients this summer and into fall (see link in bio).

Have a listen! ⭐️

All my best,
Kerri

It has been a busy winter and I’ve really enjoyed speaking with all of our new and former clients who have reached out for appointments in the last little while.

Offering counselling in the areas of: anxiety, depression, addictions, trauma, grief, separation/divorce, workplace stressors are our areas of expertise. We offer services for children/youth and adults.

You certainly don’t have to figure things out on your own. Our skilled counsellors can assist you in addressing issues and creating a plan that makes sense for you and your family.

There is no doubt that these can feel like uneasy and uncertain times. We are here for you through all of the changes, as we always have been.

I’m looking ahead to the brighter days of spring (yes, it’s on the horizon) and I really do believe that making some space and time to address how we are feeling and how we are influenced by our external world can better lend itself to a renewed sense of hope and stability within ourselves.

We do have availability for new and returning clients in the month of March (see link in bio).

I look forward to hearing from you!

Kerri

Treating ourselves with love and compassion, especially during difficult times is one of the best ways to reduce stress. I’m sharing our Valentine’s edition of our weekly Stress Rescue Newsletter that we’ve been sending to our clients.

If you’d like to receive these weekly tips, DM me and I’ll add you to our emailing list!

There are some tips this week for giving back to yourself and “loving the one within.” That’s really where all of our relationships originate! How we feel about ourselves inevitably gets projected onto the relationships we have with others and how we respond to them.

Regardless if you are single, in a relationship or contemplating your future with relationships, spending time reflecting the qualities back to yourself that you would like to have in a partner, is also the best way to be a good partner for someone else. It can better align you with a relationship that is your best match once you are in a healthy relationship with yourself.

We are here for you with this and we are offering our counselling, along with our Stress Rescue program and Self-compassion program as featured options (see link in bio).

I hope you can enjoy some time today to show appreciation for yourself and the ones you love.

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💞
Kerri

We recognize that counselling is a needed mental health service during these trying times and we want to increase your family’s accessibility to it.

We can now DIRECT BILL SOME INSURANCE COMPANIES. This will ease your financial responsibilities, reduce the hassle of filing receipts after a session and ensure continued services for you and your family.

We are here for you and we want you to feel like private counselling is an option without the stress, the financial burden or long waiting times.

We are accepting new clients and have appointments available in the near future (see link in bio).

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
All my best,
Kerri

There’s no doubt that this winter has felt intense and lengthy for many of us this season (as I write this in the middle of another severe weather advisory and snow squall watch!).💨 ❄️

One of the things I talk to my clients about is finding interests and activities that we can continue to enjoy throughout the winter season. It gives us something to look forward to and keeps us from feeling the impact of the shorter days and longer evenings. Exercise and healthy eating can really be a game changer for low mood and seasonal depression.

Movement and nutrition ARE medicine for our body, mind and spirit!

* Small changes can make a big difference. Try adding some vegetables at dinner and cut back on the winter comfort carbs or take a short walk outside to get started on a daily exercise routine. Cutting back on alcohol and substances can really improve mood too. Most of us up in the north are vitamin D deficient in the winter. Adding vitamin D can also support our mood and general well-being (consult your pharmacist about this as needed).

Getting out in nature is optimal, in my opinion (i.e. walking, skiing, snowshoeing, skating). Cross country skiing has been my saving grace this winter. I’ve gone through some big changes in the last several months in my own life. I knew that linking back up to a sport (that I’ve done since I was a kid) that rewards and challenges me physically, while allowing me to take in the beauty of the serene natural setting (which I find so calming), would be just what I needed. It has been so healing!

Whatever your winter activity of choosing is, the time is now to make that a part of your winter wellness plan.
I’d love to hear more about this from all of you.

What are the things that are improving and supporting your mental well-being this season?

Enjoy your Sunday!
Kerri
