⭐️ About Me ⭐️

Hi! I'm Julie, a Registered Social Worker with over 15 years of dedicated experience in the field.

My experience spans a range of areas, from trauma and injury to managing the emotional weight of illness, depression, and anxiety. My practice is grounded in a deep connection to the human experience. I'm particularly passionate about unraveling the complex ways in which trauma and stress affect individuals on multiple levels, in body, mind and spirit.

When it comes to therapy, I'm all about versatility. Just like a great playlist, I have an eclectic mix in terms of treatment modalities and therefore our approach is tailored to your unique needs. You're the DJ, and I'm here to help you move to the beat of your own healing journey! While I value a professional approach, I'm also known to bring a touch of lightness when it's fitting. After all, healing can be a challenging road, and a little warmth and laughter can make the journey more manageable.

Beyond my work, I find joy in being with family and friends, particularly the little ones in my life, who remind me of the fun and wonder that life has to offer. Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, I have a deep appreciation for the great outdoors, where I find parallels to the vast range of human emotions. Like nature's beauty, our emotional landscapes can be both calm and tumultuous, both of which can be beautiful. I'm a travel enthusiast and love exploring the world around me, near and far. Music has also held a special place in my heart throughout my life. It can be a source of solace and inspiration and often serves as a soundtrack for our emotional journeys.

So, whether you're battling depression, coping with illness or injury, dealing with anxiety, or trying to find your way through the labyrinth of life, I'm here to help you travel through life’s challenges. I firmly believe that even when life presents us with trials, it also provides us with chances to grow and become more resilient. If you're looking to explore therapeutic options or discuss how to enhance your overall well-being, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I am excited to be offering more flexible hours and versatility to provide support for the growing demand for services.

Grateful to be able to share this space and looking forward to Mending Minds, together. 🙏🏻

Thanks again for the support this year!! Our dad never really liked the attention or spotlight when receiving these awards, so every year, even though he was grateful for the support, he would humbly file the award away in a drawer, with a pile of awards from past years. This year we will carry on that tradition, but know that we are very thankful for the votes and support, and our awesome patients!! We'll continue to carry on his legacy, and try to live up to the standard of care he provided for so many years!!

Today, the Ontario government issued a province-wide, stay-at-home order, effective Thurs., Jan. 14, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. The order requires everyone to remain at home, except for essential purposes, such as accessing health care services or grocery shopping.

There are no changes to rules around regulated health care professionals, such as chiropractors, registered massage therapists and physiotherapists.

According to Ontario’s Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020 (effective Jan. 11, 2021), businesses that can continue to remain open include: health care services provided by regulated health professionals (point #53); organizations that provide health care, including clinics and independent health facilities (point #55) and manufacturers, wholesalers and businesses that provide logistical support of or for products and/or services that support the delivery of health care in all locations (point #58).

Patients and members of the public will be able to continue to visit their chiropractor during their regular hours of operation. And chiropractors will continue to comply with strict PPE and safety precautions to protect their patients and team members.

In accordance with the Ministry of Health and the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, we are now able to begin the next phase of our operations during COVID-19. What this means is that all elective and non-essential services can be gradually restarted. Over the next few weeks we will be gradually increasing our hours of operations, and we are now able to see any patient who needs to come in, whether it's for an acute, chronic, or non-urgent matter. We will continue to use strict screening protocols, physical distancing in the clinic, plexiglass barrier at the front desk, PPE for all staff and patients, and extensive sanitization procedures. Give us a call at 705-759-1075 and we'll see you soon!

Great article from Harvard Medical School, new guidelines from the American College of Physicians for treatment of low back pain. Recommended for acute low back is chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, heat and massage. NSAIDS did not work well for back pain, and were not recommended as a first line of therapy.

http://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/heres-something-completely-different-for-low-back-pain-2017070611962

New guidelines for back pain recommend against medication for most people. However, other options (among them yoga and massage) can help bring relief.
