Lots of ice this morning! Remember:

- Slow down
- Scrape all of the ice of your windows
- Warm up your car, defog your windows
- Leave plenty of space between your vehicle and the one ahead of you
- Start braking sooner than you think you'll have to in case your vehicle slides
- Leave earlier than you think you'll have to so you don't feel the need to speed
- Do not use cruise control

Remember, ice and snow - take it slow. Stay safe! ❄️🚓

Please be advised that a winter storm warning has been issued for our area, set to take effect late Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, and continue into Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. This storm system poses potential hazards with the likelihood of heavy snowfall (ranging from 15 to 30cm of snow), reduced visibility, and hazardous road conditions.

General Winter Safety Precautions:

As we begin to encounter Winter conditions for the first time this season, we urge residents to consider their safety by following these essential precautions throughout the season.

Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated on the latest weather forecasts and advisories through local news outlets, weather apps, or official channels.

Be prepared: Stock up on essential supplies, including food, water, and any necessary medications for any unexpected power outages or travel advisories.

Travel Responsibly: If you must travel, inform someone of your itinerary and expected arrival time. Keep your mobile device charged, carry a fully-stocked emergency kit in your vehicle, and drive cautiously.

Stay Indoors: If possible, remain indoors during the storm to minimize exposure to harsh conditions.

Check on Vulnerable Neighbors: Look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbors who may need assistance during extreme weather events. Consider registering vulnerable family members in the Vulnerable Person Registry.

Your safety is our top priority, and we encourage you to exercise caution and preparedness during any winter storm or weather events!
