🚧 IMPORTANT NOTICE 🚧

Beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, a section of the Ring Road adjacent to the South Parking Lot (Emergency Entrance) at Sault Area Hospital will be temporarily closed to support the South Parking Lot Expansion Project.

The closure will remain in place throughout ongoing construction activities related to the expansion. Clearly marked signage and designated detour routes will be in place to support the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians around the affected area.

This project is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing parking capacity and accessibility across the hospital. Following the completion of tree and brush removal — anticipated by June 19, 2026 — the project team will reassess the closure area to determine whether access adjustments can be safely implemented as the project moves into its next phase.

Overall project completion is currently planned for August 31, 2026. Any updates will be shared as they become available.

Patients, visitors and staff are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted signage and allow additional travel time while construction is underway.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as these important improvements are completed.

Today, we’re proud to celebrate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) Day and recognize the vital role PSWs play in delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

PSWs are at the heart of our healthcare system—providing essential support to patients both in hospital and in the community. At Sault Area Hospital, our PSWs contribute in countless ways — from assisting with personal care to supporting patients through programs and activities that enhance comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life. Their work helps ensure comfort, dignity, and safety for every patient they serve.

Beyond the tasks they perform, it’s the kindness, empathy, and human connection they bring to each interaction that truly sets them apart.

To all of our PSWs—thank you. Your dedication, compassion, and commitment make a meaningful difference every single day.

We wish our community a happy and safe Victoria Day! May your holiday weekend be filled with rest, celebration and joy.

May is National Physiotherapy Month—a time to recognize and celebrate the dedication, expertise, and compassionate care provided by our exceptional physiotherapy team.

Physiotherapy professionals play a critical role in helping patients restore movement, manage pain, and improve their overall quality of life. Across all stages of care—from post-surgical recovery to chronic disease management—they support patients in regaining strength, function, and independence. Their impact is seen in countless ways: helping individuals recover from joint replacement surgery, rebuild mobility after a stroke, and maintain safe, functional independence at home.

At Sault Area Hospital, our physiotherapy team is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care that supports recovery and promotes long-term health and wellness. Their work spans a wide range of settings, including inpatient units, outpatient rehabilitation services, the Algoma Geriatric Clinic, Community Geriatric Rehabilitation, and the Orthopedic Clinic. Physiotherapists also contribute in leadership, district stroke coordination, and system navigation roles, helping to strengthen care pathways across our organization and community.

This year, we proudly recognize the meaningful contributions of our physiotherapy team and the difference they make every day. Their commitment, resilience, and professionalism are essential to the healing journey of our patients and to the strength of our healthcare system.

Thank you for the care, expertise, and compassion you bring to every patient interaction.

May is Speech and Hearing Month, a time to recognize the essential role that communication plays in our health, well-being, and connection to others. At Sault Area Hospital, we are proud to acknowledge the dedicated work of our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) and Communicative Disorders Assistants who support patients and families across all stages of life.

Communication is fundamental to how we express ourselves, understand others, and engage with the world around us. For patients facing challenges with speech, language, swallowing, or hearing, access to specialized care can be truly life-changing.

This year’s theme, “Access changes everything,” highlights the profound impact that timely and equitable access to speech-language pathology and audiology services can have. When individuals are able to access the care they need—when they need it—it opens the door to improved health outcomes, greater independence, and stronger connections with family, friends, and community.

A recent example of this impact can be seen in a project where our Sault Area Hospital SLP team worked alongside Food Services and Dietitians to implement a soft and bite-sized solids diet texture for patients. This addition provides a safer option for individuals experiencing dysphagia. Initiatives like this not only enhance patient safety and quality of life, but also highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Sault Area Hospital extends its sincere appreciation to our Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorders Assistants for their expertise, compassion, and commitment to patient-centered care. Their work not only supports recovery and rehabilitation but also helps individuals reconnect with what matters most.
