🧠 Concussions Are More Than “Just Waiting It Out”

Concussions are mild brain injuries caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or body. Symptoms can be physical (headache, dizziness), cognitive (foggy thinking), emotional (irritability), or sleep-related.

The Old Advice: Stay in a dark room.
The New Approach: 24–48 hours of rest, then light activity that doesn’t worsen symptoms. Gradually reintroduce screens and activity, and seek professional guidance if symptoms persist.

Our team at The Rehab Nest provides individualized recovery plans to safely get you back to work, play, and life.

Stay safe, everyone! Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Yellow Winter Storm Warning for the GTA, including Toronto, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Caledon, Mississauga, and Brampton.

We are expecting a messy mix of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain starting this morning and continuing into the evening. Roads and walkways will be slippery and dangerous, so please take extra care if you need to head out.

❄️ Clinic Update:
The safety of our patients and staff is our top priority. If the weather makes it difficult for you to attend your appointment today, please give us a call! We are happy to help you reschedule or discuss virtual care options where possible.

⚠️ Winter Safety Tips:
Drive for the conditions: Slow down and allow plenty of extra travel time.

Watch your step: Icy patches can be hidden under fresh slush.

Shovel safely: If you’re clearing snow today, remember to lift with your legs, not your back, to avoid injury!

Stay warm and stay safe, Nest family! 🏠✨

Is Your Body Trying to Tell You Something? 🛑
We often treat massage as a "luxury," but your muscles see it as essential maintenance. From post-workout soreness to the physical toll of daily stress, your body keeps a tally of every knot and ache.

Why regular Massage Therapy is a game-changer:

✨ Alleviates Chronic Pain: Targets deep-seated tension and "trigger points."

✨ Boosts Recovery: Flushes metabolic waste and improves circulation.

✨ Restores Motion: Breaks down scar tissue to get you moving freely again.

✨ Mental Clarity: Reduces physical restlessness and improves sleep quality.

Pro-Tip: Don’t wait for the pain to become unbearable. A maintenance session every 4–6 weeks can stop a minor "knot" from turning into a chronic injury.

🌦️ Scarborough Weather Alert: Stay Active, Stay Safe

Over the last few days, Scarborough has experienced sudden weather changes—cold mornings, rain, wind, and slippery conditions. These changes can directly impact your body, especially if you experience joint pain, muscle stiffness, arthritis, or balance issues.

How weather affects your body:
✔️ Cold temperatures can tighten muscles and joints
✔️ Slippery surfaces increase the risk of falls
✔️ Reduced outdoor activity can lead to stiffness and back pain

How to stay prepared:
🔹 Warm up before going outside
🔹 Wear supportive, non-slip footwear
🔹 Stay active indoors with gentle stretches
🔹 Avoid sudden movements, especially in cold weather

If pain, stiffness, or balance issues are affecting your daily life, physiotherapy can help you stay mobile and confident—no matter the weather.
