Welcome Roman to Sechelt!

Some of you may already know Roman Horat from his practice in Gibsons. We are so happy to have Roman as part of our team now during the times he is back from Switzerland and home on the coast!

Roman has over 20 years of experience, having obtained a Masters of Physiotherapy from the School of Applied Sciences in Zurich, Switzerland and then working in a number of settings including hospitals, private clinics and starting his own practice in Gibsons in 2014.

He specializes in muskuloskeletal problems such as low back pain, neck pain, upper and lower extremity problems from overuse or trauma, and post-operative care, with a patient-centred, biopsychosocial approach. We are very confident Roman can help you get out of pain, recover from set backs, and get back to your meaningful activities!

Preregistration now open for our fall strength and balance classes!

Build strength, improve mobility, and fight age-related declines in muscle mass and function!

Our classes our led by our experienced kinesiologist and provide a safe, effective, and enjoyable small group environment to progress your training.

Adult Strength classes:
📆 Wednesdays and Fridays
🕦 11:30am-12:30pm
🏋🏻‍♀️ Maximum 6 participants, minimum 4
*class will not run that month if less than 4 people are preregistered so bring a friend!
$80 or $160 for both Wed and Friday each month

Balance and Falls Prevention class:
📆 Thursdays
🕦 11:30am-12:30pm
🏃 Maximum 4 participants
$100 per month

We hope everyone is having a great summer so far ☀️

We wanted to finally take a moment to congratulate our high schools graduates and bursary recipients!

Our 2024 recipients:

Young Female Professionals Bursary was awarded to Asha Lui-Heneke of Chatelech Secondary (pictured 👩‍🎓🤾) Asha will be off to the University of Arizona this fall to pursue her sport and career goals in medicine!

Constable Danielle Gillis Memorial Bursary was awarded to Sarah Marie Noel of Pender Harbour Secondary. Sarah’s goal is a challenging career as a paramedic! 🚑

We have a lot of trouble trying to choose from all the deserving candidates each year and wish them all the best and to please reach out in the future for support and advice!

We are so happy to welcome Cheryl Megalos to our team! Cheryl is a physiotherapist, IMS and Fascial Manipulation practitioner and will be joining us on Mondays!

Cheryl completed her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia, in 1994. She then had training in manipulative therapy through the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. After instruction in Intramuscular Stimulation with Dr Chan Gunn (GIMS), she became certified to practise IMS in 2007. Fascial Manipulation became a clinical interest in 2010, when she started her training in Italy. Assessment and application with musculoskeletal disorders was completed, then she furthered her study in Fascial Manipulation for Internal Dysfunction and superficial fascial dysfunction, and acquired her teacher’s certification in 2015. While in Italy she has had the pleasure and honour of learning from the “Family Stecco:” Luigi Stecco PT; Dr Carla Stecco MD; and Dr Antonio Stecco MD. Currently, she is teaching Fascial Manipulation workshops and Level I and II courses in Canada and returns to Padova, Italy regularly for ongoing education.

Another area of interest includes women’s health, in particular rehabilitation after thoracic surgery, including masctectomy and reconstructive surgery and complications such as lymphedema.
