About Wayne Powell
Wayne Powell is a recording artist, songwriter and producer that embodies the essence of peace and intimacy with his music. His guitar playing carries the listener into a state of bliss, and his voice is soothing and comforting to the soul.
Of course, he also has a Rock n Roll side to him, which also comes out in his songs, especially on some of his earlier albums and his sixth album, TRUST. Having recorded four vinyl albums in the early 8O’s, there is a wide variety of songs that come through him, some with a down home Country Rock feel, and others with a deep, haunting quality, which transport the listener into a deep state of receptivity and contemplation of relationships.
Growing up in Florida, and California in the 60's, he was heavily influenced by the Folk/Rock music of that time..Joni Mitchell, Neal Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash and of course the Beatles. His first Rock n Roll cover band was called The Convairs. They performed all over Miami Florida through the late sixties. The music of that time was a motivating vehicle to give the people a voice and empower change. And Wayne was deeply in love with the messages coming through the music. This influenced his songwriting greatly.
Then came Hawaii, which became home to him since 1988. Learning the healing arts and the music of Hawaii took his songs to a new level, in which a more spiritual message of truth and devotion to Spirit and the Earth began to evolve through his music. From Hawaii, Wayne went on to Canada, and finally met Patti Kale’aokalani Miller in 2003. He fell in love with her and her voice, and her songs for change. They reminded him of what he loved about the songs of the 60’s and 70’s. When he plays with Patti, their voices blend together in a warm sweet harmony. Their love has a powerful effect when combined with a message of Truth in the music. Finally, Wayne wrote Patti a love song which became their best album together, KALE’AOKALANI~ The Joy of Heaven.
