Sunshine Coast Hospice

Sunshine Coast Hospice We support people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones. We’re also working with VCH to open the Coast’s first dedicated hospice in 2027.

Through trained volunteers, we offer free grief, bereavement and advance care planning services. Coast Hospice has been providing compassionate care since 1987. Our volunteers offer companionship and bereavement support at home, in hospital and in comfortable private hospice rooms here on the Sunshine Coast. Hospice provides extensive volunteer training and support in bereavement and vigil care to

allow us to continue to provide the best services possible. Together we make a difference; together we create a compassionate community.

💚Join us on MAY 19th for an introduction to Advanced Care Planning and the Coast Green Sleeve.

Introduction to Advanced Care Planning and the Sunshine Coast Green Sleeve.
We’ll walk you through the steps of advance care planning:
THINK - What is important to you and what you would want if you are not able to speak for yourself.
LEARN - What your health care choices may be if you become ill.
DECIDE - Who you want speaking for you if you were unable to speak for yourself.
TALK - With the people you care about, and who care about you, to let them know what your future wishes are.
DOCUMENT - What documents do I need?

And we’ll introduce you to the Sunshine Coast Green Sleeve - a “container” for your advance care planning documents. It contains the information emergency responders, your healthcare providers and your family need to ensure your wishes are honoured.

Everyone is welcome, but space is limited. Please register in advance by calling 604-885-3513 or emailing acp@coasthospice.com.

🗓 May 19th
⏰ 2-4 p.m.
📍Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre @ 5604 Trail Ave., Sechelt

**We are grateful to the Notary Foundation of BC for their funding support of our Green Sleeve Initiative.💛💙

ABOUT: Sunshine Coast Hospice Society (SCHS) developed their Green Sleeve program in 2020 as a collaboration with local physicians, paramedics and home care nurses. It started out as a COVID pilot project and has become a core Hospice program. This session will review how the Green Sleeve works as part of the advance care planning program in our semi-rural community. We will review the benefits, successes and challenges and will look forward to sharing ideas and experiences with the audience around advance care planning in their respective communities.

Happy National Volunteer Week!✨

This year's theme is "Ignite Volunteerism" – for us here at Coast Hospice, this means celebrating volunteer stories.

Meet Denis, one of the 100+ compassionate volunteers who make Coast Hospice so special.

“I volunteer with Hospice because, together with a wonderful group of compassionate, inspiring and dedicated individuals, we make a real difference in our community. The gifts given to me by our clients and those I offer support with enrich my life immeasurably.”

Thank you, Denis, for the care, kindness, and presence you bring. We greatly appreciate all that you do for this community. 💙💛
