As December has begun it is now the start of peak flu and cold season.

Flu and cold season starts from the month of October to May with December to February at its highest contagion peak this is because more people are in close quarters and the flu and cold viruses thrive in cold low humidity environments .

It is important to take preventive measures like getting the flu vaccine and hand washing is a must , avoid touching your face, covering your face when you cough and sneeze within the crease of your elbow to avoid the travel of contaminated droplets , avoid leaving the house when sick and disinfectanting surfaces .

Symptoms for colds include sore throat and runny nose while Flu have more intense symptoms such as headaches , fatigue, sore muscles, fever , chills and cough .

At our clinic we are offering flu shots throughout operations and Wednesday being highlighted as our vaccine day especially if you feel like you are in need of the flu vaccine or also the covid vaccine contact our clinic at 204-482-4044 or email at bookings@eastonplace.ca

This month is Osteoporosis awareness with over two million Canadians who are affected from this Disease .

Know the signs while Osteoporosis is a disease thar takes years it is important to know the signs and who is at risk , a first indicator is a spontaneous fracture caused by just turning or twisting your body sometimes from sneezing or cough it can occur from a minor injury like a fall from a stand height or less at walking speed .

Height loss is also a important indicator as your your body ages we also shrink however this could also be a sign that a spine fracture might be present caused by Osteoporosis alot of the signs of a spinal fracture are asymptomatic i.e no pain so it is important for patients over age 50 to be monitored for their height as a little bit of shrinking is normal anything more than 2 cm of height loss can be a warning sign .

If you feel like you might be at risk feel free to book a appointment at our clinic to be assessed contact us at bookings@eastonplace.ca or call at 204-482-4044
