I will be speaking to a group of insurers, insurance brokers, and employers in December to try and have more medications covered for obesity. If anyone I care for has ever missed time from work due to obesity related issues, complications, or anxiety, or suffered from weight stigma or bias at work, please message me *privately* as sharing these stories can help move the goal posts and increase coverage for these drugs.

Tirzaperide (Mounjaro) is expected to be available in Canada within the next month or two. If you are someone for whom previous therapies have not worked, please contact the clinic at 905 478 1300 to book follow up as soon as possible. This medication has a higher success rate than ozempic even at 2 mg.

To anyone who's following to find out information on the new medications (Wegovy, Tirzapetide), I wanted to let you know I'll be posting everything as soon as it's announced. As of today, we still have not heard anything from the makers of either drug. I'll let you know as soon as we hear anything in the medical community.

Semaglutide was added to the Obesity Canada Guidelines this week.

This can have implications if you have received an ozempic prescription and were denied by your insurance company. You can try contacting them again today and letting them know that it is both approved by Health Canada and recommended by Obesity Canada.

The next evolution in anti-obesity medication is coming. Tirzapetide (which works similarly to ozempic/Wegovy but works in more parts of the brain) has completed its clinical trial and has shown an average of 22.5% weight loss (compared to 15% with Wegovy and about 10% with ozempic). It's looking poised to essentially cause more than double the weight loss of ozempic on average.

If the clinic purchased a medical grade machine to measure how many calories you burnt daily, would you pay 100 dollars to use it twice per year? (The reason I ask is because these machines cost about 20,000 dollars and would be difficult to offer as a free service).

Another piece showing something is better than nothing. Low intensity walking is better than just standing for improving cardiometabolic health. Always do something no matter how small. Things add up!
