This is the first time Dr. Blossom actually loved a chatGPT generated recipe. She made this salad then asked for a homemade dressing suggestion, pretty classic, but it did go perfectly! Here’s more from the robots;

🥗 Power Salad for Energy & Recovery
Perfect for lunch, meal prep, or post-workout fuel — this colourful cold salad is packed with lean protein, whole grains, antioxidants, and fresh herbs.

Base Salad:
• Shredded rotisserie chicken 🐓
• Cooked brown rice 🍚
• Chopped parsley 🌿
• Diced cucumber 🥒
• Shredded red cabbage 💜
• Raw sunflower 🌻 seeds

Bright & Balanced Dressing:
• 3 tbsp olive oil
• 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice or about 1/2 lemon, juiced.
• 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
• 1 tsp mustard
• 1 tsp honey or maple syrup- she mixed the dressing in an almost empty honey jar.
• Salt & pepper to taste
• 1 small minced garlic clove

💡 Tip: Make a double batch of dressing to have on hand for quick, healthy meals all week

🌺HIBISCUS:
A Flower with Deep Roots
Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) has long held a place in traditional medicine across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. In ancient Egypt, it was served chilled to royalty to reduce heat and support the heart. In Ayurveda and African folk medicine, it was used for liver health, blood purification, and menstrual support.

What the Research Says
Modern studies are now validating many of these traditional uses:

1. Blood Pressure Support
A randomized controlled trial in the Journal of Nutrition (2010) found that drinking hibiscus tea daily significantly lowered systolic blood pressure in prehypertensive adults.
• 3 cups/day for 6 weeks = up to 7 mmHg reduction
• Effects comparable to some first-line antihypertensive medications

2. Cholesterol and Metabolic Health
A 2007 study published in Phytomedicine reported reductions in LDL cholesterol and triglycerides among patients with metabolic syndrome who took hibiscus extract.

3. Antioxidant-Rich
Hibiscus is high in polyphenols, particularly anthocyanins, which have been shown to reduce oxidative stress and may protect against chronic disease.

Traditional Preparations
• As a tea (hot or cold) known as karkade in Egypt and sorrel in the Caribbean

Dr. Bitting & her family are having a chia pudding moment. They adapted recipe to make 12 x 250 ml jam jar servings. The first five are classic vanilla then they added 5 tbsp more maple syrup and 3 tbsp cocoa and a tsp of cinnamon for variation.
Recipe:
1 400 ml can full fat coconut milk
5 cups water
2 cups unsweetened soy milk
2 cups chia seeds
3 tsp vanilla extract
5 tbsp maple syrup ( then they added 5)
