🚨 A single accident could cost over $10,000… would you be ready? 🚨

At Shediac Veterinary Hospital, we’ve seen it happen — from sudden pneumonia to foreign body ingestion, unexpected emergencies can lead to bills of $10,000–$14,000+ right here in New Brunswick.

🐾 That’s why we recommend considering Trupanion pet insurance:
✔️ Helps cover unexpected veterinary costs
✔️ Pays their portion directly to us — so you only pay your part
✔️ Lets you focus on your pet — not the bill
✔️ Immediate coverage available with the Exam Day Offer

💡 With over $3 BILLION paid in veterinary care, Trupanion has helped millions of pets get the treatment they need when it matters most.

❤️ Because when your pet needs care, peace of mind makes all the difference.

🐶🌿 Lyme Disease is on the Rise—Let’s Protect Your Dog 🌿🐶

Here in southeastern New Brunswick, we’re seeing more ticks each year—and that means a higher risk of Lyme disease for our canine patients.

At Shediac Veterinary Hospital, we recommend a two-layer approach to help keep your dog protected:

🛡️ Simparica Trio (monthly chew)
✔️ Kills ticks before they can transmit Lyme disease
✔️ Protects against fleas, heartworm & intestinal parasites
✔️ Easy, all-in-one monthly dose

💉 Lyme Vaccination
✔️ Adds an extra layer of protection for dogs at risk
✔️ Especially important for dogs who spend time outdoors, on trails, or at the cottage

🐾 Our team’s advice:
No single method is 100% on its own—using both prevention AND vaccination together gives your dog the best protection possible.

🔍 Don’t forget to check your dog daily for ticks, especially after walks in grassy or wooded areas!

💙 We’re here to help
Not sure what your dog needs? Our veterinarians would be happy to create a prevention plan tailored to your pet’s lifestyle.

We’re excited to share that we’ve partnered with VetWise to help support our clients and patients during lunch hours and after-hours when our hospital is closed 🐾

When you call our hospital after-hours and lunch time, your call will be forwarded to VetWise. If you are having trouble to get through on our phone line, you can call them directly at (506) 712-3034.

VetWise is a trusted virtual veterinary service that works alongside our hospital to provide additional support whenever you need it, helping ensure your pet receives timely care, even outside of our regular hours.

When you connect with VetWise, you’ll speak with a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) who will gather some basic information about you and your pet, as well as the reason for your call.

Based on the information you provide, the RVT will perform an initial assessment, similar to what you would experience at an emergency hospital. From there, they will guide you toward the most appropriate next step—whether that’s a virtual consultation or immediate in-person care.

There is no cost to speak with an RVT. If a virtual consultation with a veterinarian is recommended, they will assist you with booking and explain any associated fees.

If urgent in-person care is required, the RVT will help coordinate this for you, including connecting you with the emergency team at Riverview Animal Hospital.

We’re proud to offer this added level of care and support to help ensure your pets are looked after—anytime they need it 💙

Killing ticks quickly can help reduce the likelihood of transmitting tick-borne diseases.

We can recommend an all-in-one tasty chew that kills 5 tick species, including the deer tick that can transmit Lyme disease and the Brown Dog tick that can infest your home. It can also protect against fleas, heartworm, roundworms and hookworms.

Book an appointment with one of our veterinarians to learn how Simparica Trio can protect your dog year-round. 🐾🐶
