Laura Matts facilitates her clients with the use of evidence based theory and a client focused approach in meeting their goals for treatment Each treatment plan is targeted to suit the client's needs with considerations for the overall long term plan, as well as the immediate primary concerns presented in each treatment.
She is a strong proponent for client education. Ms. Matts enjoys discussion of anatomy, processes of the body, mechanisms of injury and believes in the importance of post-massage home-care activities.
Laura appreciates that not everyone enjoys an excess of conversation while others are more relaxed if they can pass the time with dialogue. It is always her goal to provide the environment and treatment that best suits the individual.
The primary techniques Laura works with are the Swedish Massage Techniques popularized after W.W. I to treat injured veterans. "These are my favourite techniques. I like the versatility they allow. I'm enabled to employ a great range of pressure, from very light to deep tissue treatment. The relaxing quality and rhythmic application of these techniques can allow for relaxation even if the treatment requires attention to tender areas or a more aggressive approach in order to reach the goals of the treatment. I enjoy using passive stretch, rhythmic mobilization, and gentle traction along with the Swedish Techniques."
