Join Beyond Yoga & Tai Chi with Louise for a series of three weekly 90-minute sessions leading up to Christmas. These sessions offer a serene and safe space to exhale in a friendly community, stretch gently, and master simple stress-reduction techniques, ensuring a joyful holiday experience.

For $100, attend Mondays from 6 to 7:30 pm at Trainer Games Fitness Centre. Come dressed in cozy yoga attire, bringing your mat and a water bottle - extra mats will be available.

A very special part of my yoga programming is the attention I pay to my breath and to that of my students. It is the reason why I count our exhalations. The fuller and deeper your breath is the closer you will come to samadhi, which is a state of deep concentration.

Pranayama is the ancient practice of controlling your breath. You control the timing, duration, and frequency of every breath and hold. The goal of pranayama is to connect your body and mind. It also supplies your body with oxygen while removing toxins.

In Monday's yoga class we worked on partner poses together and everyone looks happy and excited.

It's hard work letting go of your self control and learning to trust your partner; whether they are your best friend or someone you've just met.

Holding each other up is truly a unique balance between your partner and you. Height, and weight differences simply don't factor into it.

This is all about your breath and your trust.

After doing some research yesterday morning I realized that the style of yoga that I teach could be called, 'Laughter Yoga'. My classes are consistently light-hearted in nature but serious in intent.

Outbursts of laughter are considered quite normal in my classes and it makes everyone feel that much better. When we are working hard, the only sound in the room will be the music that I'm playing, the grunts, the groans and the sighs of contentment and gratitude.

I've been teaching for about 22 years in Shelburne, in numerous different locations and I have met a lot of people along the way. There have been a few clients who have worked with me in my studio who have not resonated with my style of yoga (a unique combination of Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Qi Cong and strength-training) and who do not return for more classes. The vast majority of people do return and become regular members. This has far more to do with the style of yoga that I teach and my teaching methods resonating with said client that anything else.

If it's right for you, you'll know it.

Some of my classes over the years, from the Shelburne Physiotherapy Centre, to the riding arena at the Not Just For Hay Farm Jenny Jelen Equestrian Jenny Jelen, to the studio at TrainerGames Fitness Centre! We are smiling, we are laughing (sometimes rolling around laughing) and we are always having fun, feeling inspired and working hard to feel physically, emotionally and mentally healthier!
