Why Use Force Plates?

Force plates are valuable tools in both injury rehabilitation and performance training.

In injury recovery, force plates help track improvements in strength, balance and weight distribution. Individuals often need to regain symmetry between limbs or sides of the body and force plates can monitor this progression.

In training, force plates identify weak points, imbalances, or compensatory patterns that might be limiting performance or increasing the risk of injury.

“Joelle found the root cause of a long-term issue and gave me exercises that fit into my interests and my healing goal, so they make sense and are more enjoyable. She did a thorough job. I am very happy that I went to see her.”

Back for the 3rd year running, it’s our “Who wore it best Movember challenge.”

This year we have 6 fine gents from our Sherwood Park locations (slide 1) and 6 from Bridge South (slide 2) who will be growing out their lip sweaters to raise funds and awareness for men’s health specific to testicular and prostate cancer and mental health.

This year we thought we’d throw in a little location vs location competition. You can help the cause by following along on the progress and voting on November 30th for the location with the overall best muzzy collection. We’ll be donating $2 for every vote received!

Oh and we gave Stefan a pass on shaving today to be in his brother’s wedding tomorrow. But here’s a little preview of the fur you’re going up against!

Happy growing!

ACL injuries are serious and can leave you feeling confused and uncertain about what comes next. But you’re not alone.

The first step is getting a proper diagnosis. During your assessment, your provider will ask key questions about how the injury happened and perform hands-on tests to pinpoint what structures are involved. In most cases, an experienced clinician can tell if the ACL is torn, easing some of that uncertainty. From there, you’ll be referred to a sports medicine physician or undergo further testing, like an MRI, for clarity.

ACL rehab should follow a phased, evidence-based approach, where each step has clear milestones that guide you towards full recovery. We’re here to cut through the noise and empower you to take control of your comeback.

Team testing is in full swing and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with these athletes from , giving them access to some high level performance insights.
In our team testing sessions, we’re able to identify trainable deficits they may have leading into the season so they can reduce their risk of injury. This data also helps to create a road map for return-to-play decisions in the event an injury does occur.

At The Bridge, we’re passionate about taking your active and athletic abilities to a new high by training strength, power, speed, mobility, and longevity.

We’re thrilled to add Avery to the team in Sherwood Park!

Nutrition plays a critical role in injury recovery, performance enhancement, and overall wellness, so having a dietitian on the team is an important step to providing truly comprehensive care.

With a background in competitive dance, Avery understands firsthand how nutrition impacts performance. Following this passion, she graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta, specializing in Dietetics, and was able to grow her experience with athletes by working with the Pandas Hockey team through education sessions.

Driven by a desire to build deeper connections with patients and witness their progress firsthand, she has now transitioned to her current role as a corporate and performance dietitian.

She’s currently pursuing a diploma in Sports Nutrition with the International Olympic Committee, so you can trust that she’s always up-to-date with the latest research and is ready to provide top-tier advice for our athletes.

Outside of the clinic, you’ll find her camping, hiking, or exploring new places on her next adventure.

BRIDGE. THE. GAP.
Standard rehab usually leads to standard outcomes, often returning you to the same baseline that contributed to your original injury and the recurring pain-relief cycle many find themselves stuck in.

To ensure your relief is sustainable and long-term, our work needs to go beyond just addressing pain. The next phase of rehab focuses on building strength and retraining your body to withstand the stresses of your active life.

We enjoy helping our patients overcome pain, but we love taking it a step further - helping you become mentally and physically stronger, more confident, and more resilient than ever before.

We are thrilled to welcome Peter Yee to the Millennium Place team!

Peter completed his Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. Before that, he earned a Master’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Saskatchewan, where he also showcased his athletic prowess for the Huskies as a varsity pole vaulter.

It was during his time as a university athlete that Peter discovered the transformative power of physiotherapy in injury recovery and performance optimization.

His approach to practice is holistic and patient-centered. He aims to help you recover from injuries while ensuring you perform at your best, whether you’re an ultimate weekend warrior or looking to keep up with your grandkids.

His practice blends evidence-guided strength and conditioning principles, education, and manual therapy to create personalized treatment plans.

When he’s not in the clinic, Peter loves staying active with his family through various adventures. He also enjoys running, cycling, and Olympic weightlifting.

Join us in giving Peter a warm welcome! We are excited to have him on board and look forward to the positive impact he will make on our community. 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏋️‍♂️

Familiar Face, New Designation!

Wishing our guy James a huge congratulations for completing his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy and officially adding MScPT to his already long list of letters and professional credentials. We're gonna need some new, bigger business cards.

Over the years, we've had the privilege of working with James in various roles, including Athletic Therapist, Strength Coach, and Running Coach.

He's spent a decade building a loyal following of patients, athletes, and peers that not only value his obvious passion and detailed knowledge, but also his ability to effectively communicate and build trusting relationships with his clients.

James' schedule is now officially open in South Edmonton and he is accepting new physiotherapy and athletic therapy patients to his practice.
