For 19 incredible seasons, James was a valued part of the Sherwood Park Crusaders family. 💚🏒

Since 2007, he served as Locker Room Attendant with pride and dedication, supporting the team behind the scenes by preparing jerseys, laundering gear, restocking supplies, filling water bottles, and helping wherever needed.

After retiring on March 26, the Crusaders honored his 19-year legacy with a special ceremonial puck drop on March 28. A beautiful tribute to someone who gave so much to the organization.

Beyond his work, James is appreciated for his humility, kindness, and the strong connections he’s built with players and coaches over the years. He’s a genuinely respected and valued part of the team.

Thank you, James, for everything — and congratulations on your retirement! 💫

We’re so excited to welcome Britt Prendergast as the Emcee of the Empowerment Gala!

A familiar face on Global Edmonton, Britt brings energy, authenticity, and a deep connection to the Edmonton community.

From her start in sports media to her current role as a weather anchor, Britt’s dynamic career and love for storytelling makes her the perfect host for an unforgettable evening.

When she’s not tracking weather patterns, you’ll find her cheering on her favourite teams, staying active, or enjoying everything our community has to offer.

We can’t wait to have Britt guide us through a night of celebration, connection, and impact!

We are so honoured to welcome as our keynote speaker at The Empowerment Gala on April 9.

Medgine is Edmonton’s Poet Laureate - a Haitian-born spoken word artist, writer and advocate whose work is shaped by her lived experience as an immigrant, a woman navigating chronic illness, and a voice for marginalized communities.

Her multilingual upbringing in French, Creole and English nurtured a deep love of language and poetry— and that love has become a powerful force in her work. Medgine explores identity, belonging, resilience, and the power of finding your voice.

Over the years, Medgine has been diagnosed with Lupus (SLE), CIDP, Polymyositis, and Raynaud’s — experiences that have fueled her commitment to merge storytelling with patient advocacy, particularly for those living with chronic illness.

Alongside her literary work, Medgine recently served as Chair of the Patient and Family Advisory Committee with Health Quality Alberta, helping advance patient-centred care across the health system.

We can’t imagine a more fitting voice for an evening centred on empowerment.
