We’ve got big news: our Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) grant application was approved! The Government of Alberta has committed $510,310 toward essential upgrades at RHA Broadway.

RHA Broadway serves 100+ individuals every day — and with the building nearing 30 years old and facing significant water damage and structural challenges, these upgrades are urgent to keep the space safe, accessible, and sustainable for years to come.

This work is part of our broader Empowerment Project — an ambitious three-year, $4 million initiative — and this grant is a major step forward. Between community and corporate donations, proceeds from fundraising events, the sale of three RHA homes, and this new provincial investment, we’ve now raised nearly $2.3 million — more than halfway to our goal.

Heartfelt thanks to those who wrote letters of support for our application, and to every person and partner who has supported this project so far. You’re helping strengthen the places where people belong. 💙

🎄✨ Happy Holidays from everyone at Robin Hood Association ✨🎄

As we wrap up the year, here are a few December moments we’re holding close:

✨ Christmas Luncheon — a festive celebration for the individuals we support, with a shared meal, music, Santa photos, and joyful performances
🧣 Community kindness — a donation of many hand-knitted hats and scarves from The Mad Hatters of Cloverbar Lodge
🙏 Light the Way to Empowerment — a community-driven campaign that has surpassed $70,000 and is still ongoing, in support of The Empowerment Project
🕯Light the Way Celebration Night — nearly 2,400 candles lit in memory, gratitude, celebration, and hope — each one representing a person who helped light the way for the individuals we support

What an incredible month it has been! We're so inspired by the care of our community and can’t wait to see what the new year brings. Thank you all for being part of the RHA family — your support means the world to us!

Wishing you a peaceful, joyful holiday season ❤️

🌟 Thank You for Celebrating IDPD with Us! 🌟

On December 3rd, we celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities at our RHA Broadway Open House! It was a wonderful day to recognize inclusion, accessibility, and the incredible contributions of people with disabilities in our community.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, including our local partners, Fort Saskatchewan Mayoral Representative Birgit Blizzard, Strathcona County Mayor Rod Frank, MLA Kyle Kasawski and all the organizations who joined us — from Heartland Housing Foundation to Lacrossing Barriers, Primary Care Network, Deaf & Hear Alberta, Strathcona County Library, MINT Pharmacy, and more!

Guests enjoyed interactive stations, including RHA Sledge Hockey, Volt Hockey, sensory activities, arts & crafts, and delicious pizza and beverages from ZZA Hospitality Group. It was inspiring to hear from individuals we support, connect with community organizations, and celebrate inclusion together.

Your presence made this day special — thank you for helping us create a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive community! 💛

1,500+ candles lit!! Each one fuels programs that teach skills, spark independence, and create spaces where people with developmental disabilities can thrive, connect, and be celebrated for exactly who they are.

This Giving Tuesday and on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we invite you to stand with us in action for the people we serve. Every candle, every donation, every share helps make inclusion a reality that is felt, lived, and celebrated each day.

Join us on December 11 as we come together to celebrate the collective impact of our Light the Way to Empowerment campaign — a movement powered entirely by community generosity. Each $25 gift becomes an LED candle, and on this night you’ll follow a glowing path lined with lights representing every person who chose to uplift RHA.

Settle in with hot chocolate and cookies, craft festive ornaments with your family, roast marshmallows around the fire, and enjoy the warmth of live roaming fiddle music as it fills the space indoors and out.

This event is free, and we’d love to know you’re coming — please RSVP at:
https://rha-light-the-way.eventbrite.ca/

✨ Campaign update: We’re already at 78% of our goal, with just 453 candles left to light! Every gift brings us closer to illuminating the full path and to creating spaces where individuals with developmental disabilities are empowered to grow, connect, and thrive.

If you’d like to light the next candle, you can make a gift at justgiving.com/campaign/rha-light-the-way.

Let’s finish this together — and light the way forward. 💛
