From footwear to muscle strength and mobility, many factors can play a role in overworking the tibialis posterior muscle – often leading to what’s commonly known as shin splints.

The good news? There are several ways to support your recovery at home.

Conference time!

After 3 years, we were finally able to hold conferences in person this year. Yesterday, the Edmonton region held their annual Care Coordinator Manager meeting in South Edmonton. Managers from all over the Edmonton region including Sherwood Park, St. Albert and Leduc were in attendance. There was a lot of learning completed with a bunch of laughs and fun added in to the mix.

It is so nice to finally see all of our managers smiling faces in person.

Tamara Broadfoot, Physiotherapist

What inspired you to become a physiotherapist?

Being active growing up, and playing a high level of Fastball and volleyball, as well as being NCAA athlete in Rowing, I had multiple injuries - learning more about the body and learning about how to heal the body became very interesting for me. Initially, I wanted to become a doctor, but wanted more one on one time with patients.

What do you love most about being a physiotherapist?

Having the ability to help patients heal from injuries of all sorts.

What are you looking forward to in 2022?
I am looking forward in to getting back to a normal Pre-Covid life. Watching my kids grow and making new and exciting memories with them.
Professionally, I am hoping to take a dry needling course.
