🌈 Trans athletes deserve inclusion 🏳️‍⚧️💪

Dayna and Rin were featured in the newsletter this month with their article on Transgender Bodies in Sport: Beyond Basic Biology.

This article challenges the myths behind banning transgender women from sports, revealing that these decisions are rooted in misogyny, misinformation, and fear — not true biology. If we want sports to remain empowering and inclusive, we must stand against discrimination. 🌈✨

What the article highlights:
• Athletic performance depends on training, body composition, dedication, and sport-specific traits, not just testosterone.
• Stories like Caster Semenya’s show how society unfairly targets certain natural bodies while celebrating others.
• The real issues in women’s sports come from lack of resources, injuries, and unequal support, not trans participation.
• Even chess bans trans women — proving the issue isn’t biology but bias and gender policing.
• Inclusion strengthens sports by creating spaces rooted in community, wellness, and respect for every athlete.

👋Meet Tom - Registered Provisional Psychologist (He/Him) ✨🧠

🎨 Art and sports have shaped who I am—from hours spent creating my own art style to competing in athletics and learning resilience through every high and low. These experiences taught me creativity, patience, and the value of strong mentorship, which now guide the way I support my clients.

I take a holistic approach to therapy, exploring both the mental and physical sides of wellness to help people grow in ways that feel authentic and empowering.

I’m passionate about working with couples to strengthen communication and connection and supporting neurodivergent individuals in embracing their strengths and navigating life with confidence.

My goal is to create a space grounded in kindness, patience, and understanding—where you feel supported, heard, and ready to move forward on your own unique journey.

✨ Meet Allison - Masters in Counselling Student (She/Her)

🏀🎶 Growing up, I was constantly bouncing between the sports field (soccer, basketball) and the music stage (band). That duality taught me early on about performance—and the inevitable anxiety, focus challenges, and setbacks that come with it.

💭 My own journey navigating those pressures is why I do what I do today. I’m driven to support people in their journey of self-development, helping them build the mental skills and deep resilience needed to not just perform, but to live a genuinely meaningful life. 🌿💪

🧠 At Vault, I bring that balance of performance + purpose into my work, meeting clients where they are and helping them grow beyond the game, the stage, or the moment.

Allison is currently offering affordable counselling at a "Pay what you can afford" rate from $0-$60. Book with her today!

🎉 Free Counselling available at Vault Psychology in Sherwood Park! 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce that our student team members, Gillian Wourms and Allison Ronda, are offering counselling sessions on a “Pay What You Can Afford” basis – from $0 up to $60 – available until the end of March.

Here’s a bit about them and why you might want to connect:

✨ Gillian Wourms – A Master of Counselling student who brings a unique background: 10 years as a competitive synchronized swimmer and over 12 years of experience as a teacher and music specialist. This foundation gives her a strong understanding of high performance, perfectionism, self-doubt, and the pressures of excellence. At Vault Psychology she works with adults, teens and children (10+) focusing on ADHD, body image & self-esteem, life goals & values, life transitions, and neurodiversity. She takes a humanistic, holistic, strengths-based approach, and collaborates with clients to clarify what matters most and move toward goals authentically.

✨ Allison Ronda – Also a Master of Counselling student, Allison is passionate about supporting clients with ADHD, anxiety, body image & self-esteem concerns, depression, life goals & values, and life transitions (working with adults & teens). Allison takes a holistic treatment perspective and also pulls from her previous career as a Naturopath.

💡 Why this matters:

These sessions are perfect if finances are currently tight but you still want meaningful support.

You get access to talented, compassionate student practitioners under the umbrella of Vault Psychology’s expert team.

You’ll be supported in a safe, inclusive, affirming space.

The “pay-what-you-can” model means you decide what you can afford (between $0 and $60) — so cost isn’t a barrier.

Offer ends at the end of March — so it’s a timely opportunity.

📍 Located at: 9 Chippewa Road, #209, Sherwood Park, AB (the Vault Psychology)

✨ Healing is rarely a straight path — it’s a unique journey, with progress, pauses, and unexpected turns.

🧠 Your psychologist will draw from a range of evidence-based approaches — such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy — to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals.

Because effective therapy is not “one-size-fits-all” — it’s about using the right tools at the right time to support lasting change.
