Changes in our everyday life can really throw us off balance. Ayurveda considers these changes to be “vata” in nature. We can feel uncertain, anxious and ungrounded. But fear not! There are simple ways to ground the body and mind that can help us feel much more connected and at ease.
{ROUTINE}
See if you can establish even the most basic routine if you are working from home. When our bodies know what to expect next, our nervous systems can relax.
{REST}
Getting good sleep will help our mental outlook and immunity. Put down your phone 2 hours before bed to prepare your mind for sleep.
{RELEASE}
Checking social media/news constantly is unnecessary and stress inducing. Staying informed is one thing but living in a state of media induced fear is entirely another.
{BREATHE}
Notice how a child breathes? Way down in their belly. Lay on your back, bend your knees and place your hands on your belly.
Breathe in deeply for a count of 5, and out for a count of 5. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. So good!
{MOVEMENT}
Thankfully it’s warm enough to be outside. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. A simple walk can do so much. Breathe the fresh air, get your blood moving and get out of your head.
{SELF-CARE}
Why not use this opportunity to read a favourite book, take a bath, cook a meal you normally wouldn’t make? Home cooked healthy food is a great way to keep us grounded and connected.
{GRATITUDE}
Say thanks for all we do have. Say thanks to the people working around the clock to make our lives better.
Sending lots of love to all of you.
