Team Benny Ben first conquered cancer at the age of 5, when he beat a Wilms Tumor in his left kidney.

After 5 and a half years cancer free, the cancer has returned to his right lung and his battle begins again.

Today we head home from our happy place. I am so grateful we got a couple of weeks to breath as a family and just enjoy time together. So much laughter and smiles. We got to all of our special beaches, restaurants and boat trips. I called it the "Yes" trip where we didn't say no to much.

Wednesday we are back with Ben's Oncologist to see what's next. Something has shifted at home that we don't know much about but have us hopeful. Ben was supposed to get his Picc line back in and another round of chemo this week, but the nurse let us know that the Doc is leaning away from the chemo and is building a plan with radiation and St. Jude. In my early morning research, I have found 3 clinical trials through St. Jude that Ben falls within so we are praying very hard that this is part of the plan. I can't see a reason to stop chemo if there isn't a better alternative. But if you pray, please help us pray for a positive solution on Wednesday. Something more than, we can keep it from growing because that isn't a solution. I want that thing out!

Happy Birthday to the strongest, kindest, most emotionally and socially intelligent kid I know. Our Benny is 12 today! Benny who is never afraid to tell someone he loves them, including me at least a dozen times a day. Benny who makes friends with EVERYONE no matter how old or how young! Happy Birthday to the kid who crushed cancer once at age 5, is fighting again like a warrior and who continues to teach the world so many amazing lessons. To the Mighty Ben who's cute face and voice sold thousands of tickets for the Stollery Hospital Foundation Mighty Millions lottery. To the kid who at the age of 6 was invited to speak to over 75 doctors about how to talk to kids. To my Benny who stood up on stage as one of the hosts of the Stollery Snowflake Gala, talking to over 1000 people. Happiest Birthday my Benny!!!! You are one amazing kid and we are so very proud of you!
