Great alternative to single-use plastic bags for some household waste!

Some of our reusable waste collection bags are BIG and for general-use. We want our customers to rethink their single-use plastic bag waste.

About 8 million tons of plastic enters the ocean every year.

NASA’s EMIT sensor aboard the International Space Station has already shown it can detect the unique spectral “fingerprints” of plastic pollution on land. Now, scientists are working toward tracking marine debris, which is harder because seawater absorbs infrared light, masking many of plastic’s most visible spectral features.

To help, a NASA intern and researchers published a reference library containing nearly 25,000 spectral measurements from all kinds of litter like rope, tires, metal, bubble wrap, buoys, and bottle caps. Once the patterns are known, scientists can build detection algorithms to track the debris from the vantage point of space.

A new report from the Crisis Advisory Group delivers a clear warning: governments cannot continue subsidizing fossil fuels while claiming to fight climate change.

Each year, more than $7 trillion, over 7% of global GDP, is spent propping up the fossil fuel industry. That’s more than the world spends on education. As Sir David King, Chair of CCAG, puts it: “We cannot build a liveable future while funding our own destruction.”

The report urges countries to overhaul their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) the climate action plans at the heart of the Paris Agreement and treat them as tools for prosperity, not just pledges. That means phasing out fossil fuel subsidies, scaling up climate finance, and investing in a just transition: clean energy, green jobs, and resilient communities.

It also emphasizes the importance of empowering local and Indigenous communities to lead climate solutions, recognizing that real progress must be inclusive, grounded, and equitable.

At a time when science demands rapid action to keep global warming below 1.5°C, continuing to fund the industry most responsible for the crisis is not just contradictory it’s catastrophic.
