These kind words from a lovely human, on their experience in a recent yoga class with me. 💛

I believe that yoga can become a deeply empowering practice when we have an understanding of why a certain movement, shape or breath is being offered.

Which is why we begin every class with a bit of education or information on what we’ll be exploring, with lots of opportunity to ask questions.

If you are curious about yoga, or wanting to join a supportive healing community - you are so welcome to join us.

We meet on Wednesday nights at 6 PM for Pelvic Floor Yoga, followed by Somatic Yoga for Sleep at 7:30 PM.

What is Yoga Therapy?

“ Yoga therapy is a holistic healing art.
Rather than prescribe treatments, it invites presence and awareness. Using age-old yogic approaches to deeper presence and awareness, we are able to know ourselves more fully. Out of that knowing, we are more easily moved to embrace the opportunity for change, growth, and enhanced well-being in body, feelings, thought, and spirit. “

So good to be here. 💛

I’m spending the next ten weeks mentoring with the amazing Jules at . This mentorship will bring me one step closer to completing my C-IAYT accreditation. 🎉

My journey to becoming a Yoga Therapist has been a slow and sweet unfolding. I’ve paused several times in order to move homes, to tend to my doula practice, to care for my relationships, and to become a grandmother, among other life changes.

And this program is always waiting right there for me, much like yoga- meeting me where I am with open arms. For this, I am forever grateful. 💛

Thanks for being here with me,
Tamara xo

What is a Yoga Therapist? Here’s Ajna’s Definition of Yoga Therapy:

“ Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. It includes mindful breathing, gentle and supported yoga postures, anatomy education, and meditation. Yoga therapists are trained to work with clients experiencing injury, illness, and mental health issues. Rather than diagnose or try to treat medical conditions, we use the evidence-based tools and techniques of yoga to cultivate an integration of the body, mind, and spirit. “

High praise and kind words from a sweet human on their experience with Wednesday night Pelvic Floor Yoga. 💛

And this tee-shirt is everything. 👆🏽

“ Good morning! I attended my first pelvic floor yoga class this past Wednesday with Tamara, and I have to say—it was the best yoga experience I’ve had so far!

Tamara created such a welcoming and informative environment. I bought a 5 sessions punch card just before the beginning of this course, but I’m wondering if I could swap it for the 10 sessions punch card?
I really enjoyed that first experience and would love to attend all of the series. Thank you! “

Honouring and Supporting Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit and Transgender People.

Red Dress Day is observed on May 5 as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S).

This day acts as a powerful reminder of the thousands of Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit individuals in Canada who have experienced race and gender-based violence.

We wear red to honour mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts, and diversly gendered relatives who have been lost or impacted in this crisis. We stand with families and communities who have been affected by the ongoing violence.

The origin of Red Dress Day began in 2010 as part of Métis artist Jamie Black’s REDress Project, an art installation displayed across the University of Winnipeg campus.

The original project involved hanging 100 red dresses to symbolize this crisis and call attention to the missing and murdered members of Indigenous communities across the country. What started as a grassroots movement has become a country-wide day of significance, now in its 15th year.

Sthira suhkam asanam

(the posture should be steady and relaxed)
~ Yoga Sutras of Patanjali 2.46

This morning I subbed two yoga classes for a beautiful friend and fellow teacher.

In both classes, we explored finding “sukha” or the sweet spot between effort and ease.

We grounded through our feet and invited our prana to flow along sushumna- the central energy channel of the spine.

We rolled out and released our fascia. We breathed and stretched, and activated our cores.

We planted seeds of compassion within the gardens of our hearts, and offered those flowers to all beings in Metta.

The garden of my heart is blooming, fragrant, and full with gratitude for the teachings of yoga, and for the opportunity to share the teachings with others. 🌷

May all beings be happy.
May all beings be peaceful and at ease.
May all beings be safe.
May all beings be free from suffering.
May all beings be filled with compassion for themselves and each other.

Om. Shanti. Shanti. Shanti.
Om. Peace. Peace. Peace.

You asked for an evening Pelvic Floor Yoga class and here it is! 🎉

In this therapeutic series, we’ll move, breathe, laugh, and create community while we connect with our hearts, our cores, and our pelvic floors.

We’ll explore the connection between body, mind and the nervous system, and how they work together to support the pelvic floor. And we’ll learn why the breath is such a powerful tool in supporting your pelvic health.

You can expect a fun and nourishing class for your whole being, suitable for supporting pregnancy, postnatal healing, healthy aging, menopause, and all folks wanting to enhance their pelvic wellness.

We meet on Wednesdays from 6-7 PM beginning on May 7th at Fünketown

I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
Tamara 🙏🏽

In the heart of my heart,
I will take care of my whole self.
Fiercely, softly.
With great tenderness.
In all my layers & ways…
I will take care of me. 💛
