As the year comes to a close, we want thank you — our patients, donors, and community for your generous support this year. In 2025, we made meaningful progress towards our mission of delivering high quality primary care that meets the evolving needs of our community and strengthens the local health system. We added two new full-time primary care providers and eight locum physicians. Together, we now care for nearly 16,000 patients and are actively adding more from the province’s Health Connect Registry. Outside our clinics, Shoreline physicians provided maternity, palliative, and long-term care to the broader community.
Family physicians play an essential role at Saanich Peninsula Hospital; the hospital cannot function without their participation. This year Dr. Bourdon continued to serve as President of the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Medical Staff Association, and Shoreline physicians provided significant hospital coverage, surgical assists, and rapid assessments in the emergency department — contributions that are critical to the hospital’s long-term viability and success.
Our Youth Clinic, which is funded almost entirely by donations and grants, remains a critical service for the region. In 2024 we provided more than 550 medical and counselling appointments to youth but were unable to accommodate more than 250 same-week appointment requests. This year we added an additional counsellor, but demand for services continued to outstrip our capacity and we are ever mindful of both the need and urgency to grow.
This year we worked hard to build community, connection and belonging. We came together for a community mini-golf tournament, celebratory BBQ, physician-led walk, and at Glow Together, our inaugural winter light up event in Centennial Park. We also launched social media accounts and a quarterly newsletter to share updates and insights more regularly with our patients, community and partners.
While we made great strides in 2025, we know there is more work to do. In October, Shoreline published Charting Our Path: Shoreline’s 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, which sets out our shared vision for strengthening primary care on the Saanich Peninsula. A key action is exploring the potential for a third clinic, and this work is now well underway.
Your support has been instrumental in our recent progress and remains critical to the work ahead. If you have donated this year already, our deepest thanks. If you haven’t, but are able, we hope you will consider making a year end donation – there are still a few days left to get a 2025 tax receipt! Donations can be made online at shorelinemedical.ca/donate, in clinic, or by phoning Sarah, our Director of Development at 250-889-1346.
Wishing you a warm and restful winter season.
