March is Pharmacy Appreciation Month 💊

Behind every prescription and medication given at Norfolk General Hospital is a dedicated team of pharmacy professionals working to keep patients safe.

Our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians play an important role in patient care. They review prescriptions for accuracy, monitor for drug interactions, adjust doses when needed, and provide expert guidance to doctors and nurses.

Their work helps prevent complications, reduce hospital stays, and ensure patients receive the safest and most effective treatment possible.

Many people never see this work happening, but it plays a critical role in the care patients receive every day.

Norfolk General Hospital is proud to recognize our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians for the knowledge, care, and attention they bring to their work.

Thank you to our incredible NGH Pharmacy team for everything you do to support our patients and their families. 💙😃

It’s Social Work Week. And we are proud to recognize two individuals who quietly make a difference for patients and families across our community. 💙

👋 Meet Megan and Brittany, the social workers at Norfolk General Hospital and West Haldimand General Hospital.

When someone comes to the hospital, the challenge is not always medical. A patient may be worried about going home safely. A family may be feeling overwhelmed. Others may be facing family stress, addiction, or the pressure of caring for a loved one.

This is where Megan and Brittany step in.

They listen.
They guide.
They help patients and families understand their options and connect them with the support they need. ❤️

They also work closely with our nurses, doctors, and care teams when patients need help beyond medical treatment.

Their work brings care and insight together, which is the theme of Social Work Week this year. 💙

Thank you, Megan and Brittany, for the care and understanding you bring to our hospitals and our community. Your work makes a real difference for the people we serve and we are fortunate to have you both on our team. 😁🙏

Norfolk General Hospital, the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, and Holmes House extend warm wishes to all staff, physicians, volunteers, patients, families, and community members who are observing Ramadan.

Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims around the world. It is a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, charity, and acts of kindness. Many who observe will fast from dawn to sunset and focus on compassion, patience, and gratitude throughout the month.

We recognize that some members of our team and community may be observing Ramadan while continuing to provide and support care in busy clinical and support roles. We sincerely thank them for their ongoing commitment to patients, residents, and families.

If you are observing Ramadan and need any support during this time, please speak with a member of our team.

We wish all who are observing a peaceful and healthy Ramadan.

Ramadan Mubarak.

When someone you care about is in the hospital, comfort matters.

A chair to rest in overnight.
A table close by.
A wheelchair ready when it is needed.

The Norfolk General Hospital Volunteer Association has donated $45,000 to support patient rooms at Norfolk General Hospital.

This is their third major gift this year. Their total support now stands at $85,000. With one more donation planned, they are working toward a goal of $100,000 for patients, residents, and families. ❤

These funds are raised right here in our community through the Coffee Kiosk, Gift Shop, Craft Group, 50 50 ticket sales, and Tag Days.

Volunteers give so much of their time so patients and families can feel more comfortable during their stay. That care makes a real difference. 🙏😁
