Help to cut down on sugar
1. Read food labels.
If you buy a lot of packaged and processed foods, it's important to read the labels of every packaged item you buy. Cracking a sugar addiction is hard enough when cutting out the stuff that you already know is loaded with it.
Learn to recognize sugar's sneaky aliases, like high fructose corn syrup, dried cane syrup, molasses, sucrose, dextrose, agave, honey, and maple syrup, to name a few.
Manufacturers love to hide sugar in foods that you wouldn't think to have it. Bread, pasta, yogurt, kefir, salad dressing, almond milk, and even ketchup can be loaded with sugar.
If the carbohydrates look a little high, it probably has more sugar than you realize.
Take time to look at the ingredients as well as the sugar content and make an effort to choose foods and brands that have zero added sugar.
6-9 grams of sugar is the appropriate amount, and your fiber content must always be higher than your sugar!
2. Stop drinking it.

How to wean yourself from sugar
Sugar-containing foods mostly provide empty calories and offer few nutritional benefits. If you are concerned about your weight or want to prevent health problems, weaning off of sugar could help you lose inches and get healthier. Just like quitting smoking, cutting out sugar is easier said than done because of its addictive nature. When you consume sugar in the cake, cookies, ice cream, sodas or yogurt, it activates the same brain regions as other addictive substances like co***ne.

*Tip
Going cold turkey is the best approach to break the addiction and start improving your health!
Sugar in Your Diet
Before weaning yourself off of sugar, look at your diet to identify where sugar hides in all the different foods and beverages you consume. Read food labels and look not only for the word sugar but also for sucrose, glucose, dextrose, fructose, high-fructose corn syrup, honey, evaporated cane juice, fruit juice concentrates, molasses and agave syrup.

Help with losing weight and preventing obesity
A sugar-free diet is one that typically limits all sources of added sugar (like soda, snack bars and desserts, for example) and hidden sugar foods, and it sometimes also encourages a reduction in high-carbohydrate foods (like grains or fruits) that can still be healthy but do contain natural sugars.
There are lots of benefits to consuming more satisfying, nourishing foods in sugar’s place, such as lean proteins and healthy fats.

Small problems worth fixing
Even minor dental issues, like chipped teeth, should never be ignored. What seems like a small cosmetic concern can sometimes indicate underlying damage. That’s why it’s important to have any chip evaluated by a dentist, who can recommend the most appropriate treatment based on the chip’s size, depth, and location.

Here are some common solutions for repairing chipped teeth:

Enamel Shaping
For very minor chips, your dentist may smooth and reshape the affected area. This simple and painless procedure can improve the tooth's appearance quickly and effectively.

Dental Bonding
Bonding is a fast, non-invasive option for small chips. A tooth-colored resin is applied to the damaged area and sculpted to blend naturally with your tooth. It’s usually completed in just one visit.

Crowns
When a chip affects a larger portion of the tooth—especially the molars—a crown may be recommended.

Smoking and Periodontal Disease: A Dangerous Duo for Oral Health
Smoking is widely recognized as a leading cause of a range of health problems, from lung disease to cardiovascular issues. However, one of the less often discussed but equally serious consequences of smoking is its impact on oral health—particularly its role in the development and progression of periodontal disease.

What Is Periodontal Disease?
Periodontal disease, commonly referred to as gum disease, is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the gums and the supporting structures of the teeth. It begins as gingivitis, which is characterized by red, swollen gums that may bleed during brushing or flossing. If left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, a more severe form that leads to the destruction of the bone and connective tissues that hold teeth in place—ultimately causing tooth loss.

Weak enamel?
Have you ever wondered about tooth enamel? What is it? How important is it? How can you protect it? Here are the answers to all of your enamel questions.
The enamel on your teeth is the hardest and most highly mineralized substance in your body. It covers the outer layer of each tooth and is the most visible part of the tooth. The enamel is made up mostly of minerals, primarily hydroxyapatite. The color can vary from light yellow to grayish-white; since it is semi-translucent, it is only partially responsible for the color of your teeth.
Enamel plays a very important role in protecting your teeth from decay, so it is important to do everything that you can to prevent your enamel from corrosion and erosion. It forms a strong barrier that protects the inner layers of your teeth from the effects of acids and plaque; it also protects the sensitive inner layers of your teeth from foods and beverages that are very hot or very cold.

I know him to be a fantastic person and a wonderful Dentist!
What can I say about Dr.MacDonald, I know him to be a fantastic person and a wonderful Dentist! He’s taking care of myself and my family and my children/grandchildren over the last 40 years. We’ve had phenomenal service, I owe my winning smile to him!
Let me give you a little background on my experience with dentists in the past. As a 10- year-old child I had to go to the Dentist on my own to have a tooth pulled and the dentist I went to was very abrupt, he was not a gentle person giving me freezing, in about a minute after he gave it to me he pulled my tooth out so I was left there crying in pain it didn’t have time to numb which left a bad impression on me for going to the dentist office.
Dr. MacDonald calmed all my fears I call him the king because he’s the specialist at giving anesthetic, with almost minimal to zero discomforts.

Wisdom teeth removal
Wisdom teeth, which are commonly known to cause dental problems, are the last permanent teeth to erupt in a patient's late teens or early twenties.
Not everyone needs to have these teeth removed, but removal can take care of symptoms you currently have or prevent future problems. Some problems that can occur with wisdom teeth are gum infection and disease, tooth decay, root resorption, cysts and poor positioning in relation to your other teeth. It is recommended to remove them early because the older you are, the more formed the roots of these teeth become.

Our clinic also offers extractions of other primary and permanent teeth if it is determined that they need to be removed. This can be done with local anesthetic and nitrous oxide. The need for extractions can be diagnosed at your regular dental cleaning appointments. Read more.

X-Rays for children
There is no standard timetable for when your child’s mouth should be X-rayed. The need varies with the child’s development and dental health. If your child has had many cavities and fillings or has a high risk of tooth decay, it is recommended X-rays every six months. This can help to detect cavities developing between teeth. Whether X-rays are needed also depends on how well your child brushes and flosses, and your child’s diet.
Description
The need for dental X-ray films varies from child to child. They are most likely taken to identify potential problems unseen by a visual exam. Generally, children need X-rays more often than adults as their mouths are still growing and changing. In addition, they are more susceptible to tooth decay and thus are important to identify potential cavities with early diagnosis.

What to Expect
During the x-ray, your child will wear a protective lead body apron which acts to shield and protect them from exposure.
