High density lipoproteins are the smallest of the lipoproteins. These molecules are responsible for carrying cholesterol from the body to the liver for excretion.
As result typically these molecules are protective, to a point - too much is never a good thing either.
Movement is the best way to keep HDL in a healthy range. Recommendations include a total of 150minutes of movement in a week, this can easily be broken down to 10 minute intervals.

LDL (low density lipoprotein) is the lipoprotein that is makes up most of the cholesterol in the body. It's role is to deliver cholesterol to tissues and at high levels is strongly associated with the buildup of artery-clogging plaque.
LDL should be kept in optimal range for cardiovascular disease prevention.
There is some genetic conditions, which run in families where LDL levels are higher, and these individuals need to ensure other risk factors remain in check (glucose, weight, blood pressure).
Fiber is an amazing way positively impact your LDL, dose is important.

Triglycerides -are the most common type of fat in the body. They are required to store excess energy from your diet. It is normal for triglycerides to be higher in the blood after a meal, BUT continuous elevation can be the result of metabolic concerns like prediabetes.
Triglycerides should be less than 1.6nmol/L
Certain conditions like kidney disease and hypothyroidism can increase triglycerides as well as some common medications like birth control pills.
If your triglycerides are high, dietary and lifestyle modifications are the best place to lower your levels.

The risk factors for cardiovascular disease encompass not only lipids (cholesterol), but also thrombotic risk (clots), inflammation (cause for atherosclerosis), metabolic/diabetes as well as chronic kidney disease and blood pressure risk.

This short series will focus on the lipids.
