ABEL Enterprises ABEL Enterprises is a local charity that has been supporting community members who live with a mental illness or addiction for over 40 years! events.

Abel Enterprises is a local charity that has been supporting community members who live with a mental illness or addiction for over 40 years! From its beginning of 5 men who formed a grassroots work group to provide yard work in Simcoe, the Group has grown to a registered charity that provides a variety of supports and programs for people in our community. From building furniture, wooden products and crafts, to FUNdraising events in the community, there are lots of ways to get involved with an active and fun group of Members who play as hard as they work. Our goal is to get people back and active, whether its becoming part of our Vocational Rehab therapeutic woodworking shop, to meeting with our ACE Program to help you find a job, to helping out at our Bingos, concession booths and Smash-it! A HUGE GIANT THANK YOU to the Simcoe Christmas Panorama committee for entrusting us with the Hot Chocolate Cabin!

Our gross sales were $8,100.95, with $1,377.16 going to Panorama to help them meet their goals and to keep making awesome improvements to the longest running light festival in Canada!

They have decided to allow us to continue our fundraising efforts at Panorama for 2026, and we are excited about this new partnership (with some more fun in the works... or should we say.. in the workSHOP!)

We are grateful for the opportunity and we thank you for seeing the value in what we do in our community!

Today is Blue Monday, but Mental Health matters every day.

Blue Monday began in 2005 when a travel agency used the term to market travel packages and has been adopted by organizations who use this day to remind everyone to take care of themselves and their mental health.

While the term Blue Monday may have come about as a "gimmick", it is true that the long winter and shorter days do have an impact on our mental health as there are less options for getting outside to enjoy sunshine, fresh air and exercise. Many are also feeling disconnected after the holiday hustle and bustle, some are tight financially after the holiday season, and some are frustrated with their goals set as a New Years resolution. All of these (and other factors) combine to have a real effect on our Mental Health.

Remember: you are not alone in your struggles. Take care. Today, and everyday!
