Did you know that Optimum Health now dispenses Bauerfeind braces? Bauerfeind is a well-established company, based out of Germany, that offers a variety of high quality bracing options which range from basic to highly supportive, based on each patient’s needs. The majority of their braces are designed to be worn during activity, which helps to encourage muscle activation and build strength rather than develop a reliance on their braces. Conversely, they have other rigid brace options as well to restrict motion when that is required.

Braces are most commonly prescribed for:
- wrists
- elbows
- knees
- ankles
- lower back.

They can help with various condition including, but not limited to:
- sprains
- strains
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- tennis elbow
- meniscus injuries
- ligament injuries/instability
- osteoarthritis
- chronic back pain.

Most insurance companies offer coverage for braces if they are deemed medically necessary. If you require bracing, consider reaching out to your insurance company to inquire about your coverage and speak with your medical doctor about obtaining a prescription!

Optimum Health has expanded their selection of compression stockings!

There is a misconception that compression socks are only worn by older individuals; however, because of the pressure gradient in the socks, which reduced fluid retention in your legs, compression stockings are actually worn by people of all ages and have a wide range of uses! They can be beneficial for people with varicose veins, venous insufficiency, lymphedema, deep vein thrombosis (DVTs), and post-surgical swelling. They can also offer support during pregnancy, long flights, and athletic activities, as well as for people who either sit or stand all day.

Optimum Health continues to offer Lunatik Athletiks compression stockings and has recently expanded to now offer Bauerfeind compression garments as well. New styles include knee-high, thigh-high, and panty-hose lengths, as well as compression sleeves. In addition to traditional black, navy, and beige options, a lot of their products are also available in a variety of colours and patterns.

If you have been suffering with any of the above issues, you should talk to your doctor about obtaining a prescription for compression stockings.

What’s even better? If you are considering purchasing a pair, you should inquire about your insurance coverage options as compression garments are frequently covered by insurance companies!

Dr. Stone and Dr. Brazeau spent this past weekend expanding their knowledge and skills to become proficient in assessing and treating various conditions which cause dizziness and vertigo.

Specifically, they are able to assess, diagnose, and treat:

- Cervicogenic Dizziness

They are also able to assess and treat symptoms associated with:
- Vestibular Neuritis
- Ménière’s Disease

On October 16, World Spine Day raises awareness of spinal pain and disability, which affect people of all ages worldwide. The 2025 theme "Invest in Your Spine," highlights the importance of proactive spinal care for lifelong health and well-being.

Thanks to everyone that braved the weather and joined us for Smiths Falls Movies Under The Stars last night.
Dr. Jennifer Brazeau and Dr. Nicola Stone were on site to say hello and joined by Dr. Nicklaus Thompson from our sister office in Perth, Cordick Chiropractic & Optimum Health Clinic.
As always, it is an honour to support this event that provides family entertainment to the community every summer.

Summer is in full swing...

We wanted to remind everyone that the Abbott St. Bridge is locking thru boats between the hours of 9:00am & 6:00 pm. weekdays.

Also construction has begun on Abbott St. and will continue until late July. This may cause some traffic delays.
