Visitor Restrictions in Effect – Smiths Falls Site (MSSF Unit)

The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH) is temporarily restricting visitors to the Medical/Surgical Unit (2nd Floor) at the Smiths Falls Site due to an active influenza outbreak.

Temporary Visitor Restrictions – Medical/Surgical Unit (2nd Floor) – SF Site
• Essential visitors only (exceptions for end-of-life patients)
• Masks must be worn at all times when visiting inpatient areas – masks are available at hospital entrances.
This is critical to help prevent the spread of influenza and protect vulnerable patients and staff. Please ensure your mask is worn properly throughout your visit.
• Do not visit if you are sick; please consider a virtual visit
• Limit visits to one (1) patient and clean hands when entering/exiting rooms and the unit
• No visitors under age 14 (exceptions for end-of-life patients)

General Visiting Reminders for all other areas not in outbreak
• Do not visit if you feel unwell – consider a virtual visit
• Masks are strongly recommended in all patient care areas (outside outbreak units)
• Hand hygiene is always required
• No age restrictions in non-outbreak areas

We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our patients and staff safe. Please be kind and respectful to our healthcare team during your visit.

& Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation

Today, we are so proud to recognize Marylouise, one of our outstanding Laboratory Technicians, for the kindness she brings to PSFDH every single day.

Receiving a Gift of Gratitude is a perfect reflection of the impact she makes because whether you’ve seen her at the Perth or Smiths Falls site, her warmth and positivity are impossible to miss.

A dedicated member of our PSFDH family since 1991, Marylouise has spent decades caring for our community with skill, grace, and genuine compassion.

In a role where precision and efficiency are essential, she brings something even more extraordinary: a heartfelt kindness that touches everyone she encounters.

She is absolutely wonderful, thoughtful, patient, and unfailingly kind to both patients and staff. Her coworkers speak with admiration about the positivity she brings to every shift, and patients often share how comforted, and supported they feel in her care.

Whether she’s calming an anxious patient, offering guidance during a challenging moment, or stepping in to support a colleague with her steady presence, Marylouise leads with heart in every interaction. She doesn’t just come to work she elevates the experience of everyone around her.

Congratulations, Marylouise! Thank you for reminding us each day that kindness is not only a strength but a lasting gift one that continues to make PSFDH a better place for all. 💛🔬

Important Notice: PSFDH Experiencing Critical Capacity Pressures

The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital (PSFDH), like many hospitals in our region, is facing severe capacity challenges due to a shortage of inpatient beds. Our Emergency Department is working tirelessly to provide care, but patients will be prioritized based on the severity of their condition. This means longer wait times for non-urgent cases.

***If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. Paramedics will provide care and transport you to the nearest emergency department if required.***

We ask for your patience and understanding during this critical time. Our health care teams are doing everything possible under extraordinary pressure. Please treat all staff with respect and kindness. Your cooperation helps maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Thank you for supporting as we navigate this urgent situation.
