Shadow West Security is a privately owned and operated security business serving the District of Sooke, British Columbia since 2006. Managed by David Babbage, and staffed by 8 fully licensed and trained Security Professionals and 4 OFA Level 3 First Aid Attendants, also trained for Traffic Control. Shadow Security is committed to providing a wide range of services tailored to protecting life and property. We are dedicated to creating a safer environment for the people living and working in our unique and growing community. David Babbage has over 25 years of experience and training in the Security Indusrty. Beginning his career with Canadian Protection Services in 1982, and the Canadian Armed Forces starting in 1984 - With training in the Nuclear Emergency Response Team based at CFB Esquimalt - and serving as a member of the Base Auxiliary Security Force until 1996. David also has experience working for private security companies, including Securiguard and working as a Commisionaire at Royal Roads University. David started his own business - Shadow OFA Level 3 Attendant Services - in February of 2006 and provided services to Sooke Potholes Provincial Park as a security provider to the Land Conservancy of BC through 2007. The company was officailly named Shadow Security in September, 2006 and has since been providing security and fisrt aid services to residential and commercial developments, and to local construction companies in the district of Sooke. As Shadow Security has began growing and diversified it's services, David began hiring contracted Security Professionals in May, 2009, and registered his business as Shadow West Security with the government of BC in April of 2010. Shadow West Security is fully covered by WCB insurance and Hub International. David here, we just received a new monthly Patrol contract here in Sooke BC, for a local business.

This was a word of mouth contract, the Client asked who should he call, and my company Shadow West Security was recommended.

We start tonight.

2024 Annual Patrol Report.

Patrols completed- 25680

Patrol Kms Driven- 42000

Mobile Patrol hours- 3086hrs

Site Foot Patrols hours- 1200hrs

Site Incidents dealt with and removed individuals and made sites safe:

1058 Incidents

Incidents include the following:

Persons and or vehicles removed from my Client's properties.

Site Insecurities- gates, doors,windows, outbuilding, and C-cans.

Persons Loitering and or Panhandling

Persons Trespassing by Night

Persons found doing drugs or Drinking Alcohol

Persons found sleeping on my Client's properties- on the ground, in tents and or vehicles.

Persons found going through Garbage Dumpsters.

We received 3 new site contracts in 2024 increasing our presence in the Sooke town core.

We had a busy year, thank you to all of our Client's we look forward to providing the same if not better Patrol coverage in 2025.

We just received a new monthly Patrol contract here in Sooke at a residential house, we start in January, can't wait. Another word of mouth contract.

Shadow West Security reports, well tonight while on Patrol, I observed an unhoused male sleeping on 1 of my Client's properties, I approached him, identified myself, and told him he had leave the site, as the site was not a park, he mumbled something but refused to leave I told him if he did not leave, that I would contact the Sooke RCMP for assistance, and I told him I was not going to argue with him. I contacted the Sooke RCMP and requested assistance. I departed site and returned 15 minutes later, he was still there, still refusing to leave this he threatened to cut my hand off if I did not leave him alone.
I again contacted the Sooke RCMP, they finally arrived 30 minutes later, this time he was on his feet the Constables were awaiting information on him, the report came back that he was in Breach of his Conditions, for a prior incident, so the Sooke RCMP arrested him.
Thats 1 less unhoused person on the streets of Sooke.

Persons/ and or vehicles removed from my Client's properties.
Loitering and or panhandling
Trespass by night
Sleeping on the property- vehicle/ tent/ on the ground.
Doing Drugs/ and or Drinking Alcohol on the property.

All of my Client's properties are Private property, therefore after hours they are closed to the public.

We look forward to the challenges the next 6 months may bring us, we are proud of our accomplishments in protecting our Client's properties.
